Clubs in England have invested heavily in bolstering their attack options over the summer, and when they took to the field for the first time this past weekend, all eyes were on them. And they did not disappoint. Many paid instant dividends with early strikes for their new clubs. Here is a breakdown of the stars who have started paying back the huge chunk of money shelled out to acquire their services.
Alexander Lacazette (Arsenal)
It took just 94 seconds for Arsenal’s record signing to get his name on the score sheet when he put in Mohamed Elneny’s cross against Leicester City to earn a roar at the Emirates stadium. Arsene Wenger’s men would go on to win a 7-goal thriller, won for them by Olivier Giroud, the man Lacazette was brought in to replace.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
After a disappointing stint earlier at Chelsea, Salah has been revitalised by his time in the Italian Serie A with both Fiorentina and Roma. His debut outing under Jurgen Klopp suggested things are going to be different this time around. The winger first won a penalty which Roberto Firmino successfully dispatched, before giving Liverpool a lead they were unable to hold as they were held to a 3-3 draw.
With the never ending rumours about the future of Phillipe Coutinho, Liverpool fans can be assured that Salah can be a suitable replacement.
Wayne Rooney (Everton)

England and Manchester United’s all-time record scorer made it a fairytale return to Goodison Park when his fantastic first-half header sealed a 1-0 win over Stoke City. The 31-year-old is now on 199 Premier League goals. Everton travel to the Etihad Stadium next game week – a club Rooney has scored some great goals against.
Alvaro Morata (Chelsea)
Morata has Diego’s Costa’s sizable shoes to fill at Chelsea and the former Real Madrid man brought the prolific form he showed at the Bernabeu to make an instant impression. Even though he came on as a second-half substitute when Chelsea were down by 3 goals and have been reduced to ten men. His goal, although fantastic, was merely a consolation as his team collapsed to a 3-2 loss against Burnley.
Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United)
Lukaku’s pace and power made mincemeat of a West Ham defence as Jose Mourinho’s side thrilled the Old Trafford fans to a sensational season opener. His first came via the inside of the post on the end of a Marcus Rashford’s fine through ball and he headed home his second via a Henrikh Mkhitaryan free-kick, proving he can be the striker United so badly wants. Newly promoted Huddersfield looked so much at home in England’s top flight as they made easy work of Crystal Palace. Mounie grabbed two goals as they took apart Palace 3-0.
