Detroit Tigers Finish the Sweep on Orioles

After dropping five consecutive games, Detroit managed to recover against the Orioles, winning three straight and completing the renowned sweep. Within the three games, the Tigers managed to accumulate 23 points, and held the Orioles to a semi-high 15 runs. Detroit won the final game by a score of 13-8.
Jordan Zimmerman won his second game of the year, after a rough end to last season, and start to this season. The Tigers organization anticipated Zimmerman to be their star-studded pitcher, as they signed him to a long 5 year, 110 mil. max contract deal. Zimmerman threw 7 K’s in 5.1 innings, which aided in the victory he earned.
The former Ray, Alex Cobb, has had an appalling start to the season. In his first outing, he couldn’t make it out of the third inning, letting 8 runs score on 10 hits. He nearly replicated his first performance in this game too. Through 3.1 innings, he allowed 7 runs to cross the plate on 10 hits and he established a 15.43 ERA. If he doesn’t turn around his putrid pitching performances, he will either be finding his way down to the minors, or to another team.
Once a power-house hitter, Chris Davis, hit only his second home run of the season. He is batting a poor .145, and is looking for an answer to turn it around. Manny Machado, the Orioles optimum hitter, knocked two balls out of the park, hit a two-base hit, drove in 4 runs, and marked up his batting average to a team best, .338. Adam Jones went 3 for 5, cracking three doubles, and drove in two runs. Tim Beckham also got on the bag 3 times, hitting two base hits and one double.
Detroit had a spectacular offensive outing. Jose Iglesias came up a home run short of hitting the cycle, elevating his batting average from .128 to .173. Jeimer Candelario made it to the bag 5/5 times. He walked only once, hit 3 base hits, and he cracked one homer to prolong his hitting streak to 4 in a row. Similar to Iglesias, Leonys Martin came up a double short of hitting the cycle, additionally, he cracked in 4 runs.
