Things are never straightforward for Liverpool these days, and having conceded 10 goals in their previous 3 away games, Liverpool’s shaky defence almost cost them a much needed win.

Philip Coutinho showed why Liverpool were reluctant to sell him in the summer as he put in a man of the match performancein a highly entertaining encounter.

Coutniho delivered a man of the match performance

Both sides had chances, but it was Mohamed Salah who opened the scoring when Coutinho put in a pin-point cross to the back post for the former Roma man to head in to foil Schmeichel at his near post. It was Salah’s 6th goal for Liverpool since joining from the Italians.

It was soon 2-0 when Coutinho, who had put in a transfer request with hope of a move to Barcelona, scored a spectacular free kick. From 30 yards, a swerving right-to-left effort left Schmeichel with no chance and it looked like Liverpool were firmly in the driving seat.

Leicester weren’t without their chances, however, and were unlucky not to score on a few occasions. So it was only right that they should score just before half time. A corner from Gomez caused confusion in the Liverpool defence which ended up with Okazaki tapping the ball into the net to half the deficit.

Henderson made it 3-1 to Liverpool

The 2nd half was plodding along until Jordan Henderson made it 3-1. The England international casually put away a Sturridge through ball to surely send Liverpool on towards a safe 3 points.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, knew the significance of the third goal and duly celebrated on the touchline, and with his side needing to close out the remaining 25 minutes, he was hoping a two goal cushion would surely be enough.

Within two minutes of going further behind, however, Leicester brought the deficit back to one when Vardy headed a palmed Demarai Gray volley into an empty net.

Mignolet saved a Vardy penalty

Chances were created from both sides and the game could have ended up with many more goals.

With the home crowd now sensing blood, Vardy chased a ball over the top and clashed with Mignolet. The referee deemed the Liverpool keeper to have fouled the England man and pointed to the spot.

It was Vardy who stepped up to take the penalty, but he was outwitted by the Liverpool keeper as Mignolet stood his ground and palmed away a fiercly struck penalty down the middle to clinch all three points for the reds.

It's early in the season and although Liverpool are exciting to watch, their shaky defence seems to be the problem behind them building a serious title challenge.

Liverpool 👍

YNWA !
but, it seems Coutinho will leave in the winter

I think so.

Great performance along with Morata, but its like transfer auditions for Barca.

I don't get why players want to leave for Barca and Madrid. Obviously they're 2 of the biggest clubs in the world but some English clubs are just as big, but at least in the Premier League they get competitive matches every week. Scoring a few hat-ricks every season gets boring after a while.

I think its mostly with players personal need to get affiliated with Spanish clubs. But, La liga is at most three horse race while premier league is more unpredictable. Departure of Neymar and Morata is change of tide in other direction.

Barcelona and Madrid are two massive clubs and you can pretty much guarantee success playing for them. It's not the Premier League, but La Liga is a great league, but those two clubs are just too good for everyone else, Atletico included.

Coutinho is great, but I'm not sure he's motivated anymore.

He looked motivated yesterday against Newcastle.
