The Boston Celtics took a 107-94 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference finals matchup despite LeBron’s 42 points on Tuesday night. Jaylen Brown once again led the Celtics with his 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. All Celtics players contributed well and played their role effectively. Terry Rozier added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists while Al Horford had 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Rookie Jayson Tatum scored 11 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Meanwhile, Marcus Morris finished the game with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists while Marcus Smart had 11 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Starting center Aaron Baynes finished with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Boston is now 8-0 this postseason at their home court. The Celtics never lose leading 2-0 in the playoffs. Another balanced scoring has been effective for the Boston Celtics as six Celtics players reached double figures.

LeBron James had a magnificent night finishing the game with 42 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists and 1 block. He did it all for the Cavs but it wasn’t enough to take the win. No one played really well aside from James and Kevin Love. Korver scored 11 points off the bench but starters Tristan Thompson, JR Smith and George Hill combined for just 11 points on 5 for 17 shooting. Thompson started in place of Korver to provide the energy and the defensive assignments against Al Horford. Thompson scored the first basket of the night and played great defense against Horford. Thompson finished with a total of 8 points and 7 boards. Kevin Love was the only efficient player offensively to help James. Love posted 22 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists on 50 percent shooting from the field. Hill scored 3 points only with 2 rebounds and 2 blocks while JR Smith did not make a single basket in seven attempts.

LeBron James started hot as he scored 21 of Cleveland’s 27 points in the first quarter. He tied his playoff career high for points in a quarter. It was his fifth 40-point game of this postseason. James made five three-pointers compared to his 0 for 5 three-point shooting in game 1. James was very aggressive in game 2 until he strained his neck in a first-half collision with Jayson Tatum. He didn’t seem to play well after that. Boston scored seven consecutive points to make it 61-59 after trailing 61-52. Then they started a 15-7 run to take a 74-71 lead, their first lead of the second half. Rozier and Morris led the two runs including 11 points by Rozier and 6 for Morris. The Celtics outscored the Cavs 50-42 in the paint but went 10 for 31 from long range.
The game became heated when Marcus Smart got into JR Smith’s face after Smith intentionally pushed Al Horford in the air to prevent an alley-oop. Smith shoved Smart and they had to be separated. Both of them picked up a technical foul and Smith was called for a flagrant foul. Cleveland’s momentum disappeared and the Celtics took control of the game. Baskets were falling for the Celtics, but not for the Cavaliers towards the end of the fourth quarter and the momentum shifted to Boston and they took the win.
