Steem Silver Round 2018 Is Almost Here. Let’s Raise Some Funds For It.

As the time for minting of this year’s Steem Silver Round approaches, it makes me excited about how it would turn out like. There were 27 beautiful design submissions for this year’s round. But only the best among them would finally get minted.

The obverse side of the coin is already decided and it would be exactly like the last year’s one:

So the designs were invited only for the reverse side of the coin. Last year @bearone’s beautiful design was voted the best and it finally got minted after some minor edits. The coin was appreciated by one and all. Initially released at a price of 22.5 SBD, it soon spiked more than the double of it. Only 1500 of these beauties were ever minted. Every coin carried a unique mintage number and came with Certificate of Authenticity.

This year too, I guess @bearone’s design will be the winning one though it’s not yet official and @welshstacker’s design is giving it a tough competition. I’m embedding her design here only for the representational purpose. No offense is meant towards @welshstacker or any other participants. I loved everyone’s design. All were awesome!

Steem Silver Round is unique in its own way as it’s always “heads-up” ...so to speak. @phelimint has recently revealed this little secret here. In the edge markings of any coin, letters are upright when obverse is facing down. But with Steem Silver Rounds, it’s just the opposite. Letters on the edge are upright when the Steem Silver Round is heads-up 😊

This year, the project leaders @sevinwilson & @philimint has decided to crowdfund a part of this year’s silver round’s cost. Any donations to @steemsilverround will go towards subsidizing the cost of the coin. So this year’s coin is likely to be cheaper than the previous one. Hence many more Steemians can get their hands on this adorable treasure. And this is the reason for this post:
