2018 Steem Silver Round Design Submission For Contest

After seeing @phelimint’s post about the design contest, I have been hard at work trying to come up with an idea. Of the submissions that I have seen so far, they are all going to be tough competition. So, I have been working for the last couple of hours on my submission and I have finally got it to a place that I am happy with. So, I would like to throw my hat in the ring, and here is the design that I came up with.

To give a brief background, I have been part of steemit for about 7 or 8 months and part of the #steemsilvergold community for the last couple of months. So, I have seen a couple of ups and downs with prices of steem and sbd. Now, we are starting the year off with a bang and I think it will be a great year for the steemit platform. This brought the theme of “Full Steam Ahead” to mind and I made this the focus of the coin.

I also tried to incorporate some symbolism into various aspects of my design. First up, are the images of minnows, dolphins, and whales. They symbolize the big players here on steemit, the new members, and all those in between who are blogging/posting under the ship that is the steemit platform. The anchors are a representation that we are positioning ourselves in a community and that we are here to stay to make this a much better social media platform than many of the mainstream ones could ever be. The rope connecting the anchors is to show that, we could have bodies of water and continents between all of us, but that we are all still connected as one community and are able to interact/meet new people from all over the world.

I would be very interested to hear what you all think about the design. Also, I wanted to join @phelimint and @sevinwilson, and will be donating all liquid sbd generated from this post to @steemsilverround to help with the cost of making the coin. I cannot wait to hear what you have to think!
