Look over there! Bitcoin Bitcoin Bitcoin.....meanwhile Gold and Silver
Right now no one seems to care about hard assets. Bitcoin price is jumping and everyone is chasing it. Gold and Silver are hitting all time highs in several different currencies. Gold is still $500 from ATH in USD. And the Gold/Silver ratio is putting in historic highs.
Sure investing in Silver isn't going to be a 10 bagger (or is it???) and you won't get rich over night. But you will also never have to worry about it going to $0 or having 3rd party risk (exchanges, wallets, etc). Don't get me wrong I do like crypto and the freedom it wants to provide us, but I also realize the Central Banks, Government and IRS aren't going to just roll over.
The question I find myself always thinking about is this. If I could leave something for my kids/grandkids in 50yrs what would it be??? I have a feeling something much better will replace Bitcoin by then. On the other hand, Gold and Silver have been a store of value for over 5000yrs. Imagine, in that time, how many great things have come and gone that people thought would be the best store of value. And now most of those things are worth $0 but Gold and Silver are still chugging along.
Like I said, I'm a fan of many different crypto projects, but they are all speculation and I doubt they will be here in another 30-50yrs. Maybe even sooner if Quantum computing goes main stream before that.
What are your thougts? Do you think BTC will be around in 50yrs? Do you think Gold and Silver will go to $0 (I tried to type that with a straight face)?

Hell yeah vg! I like the angle. And although I am a total crypto-whore, I stack the metals too for the reasons you mention.
Stacking the shiny at these prices is a no brainer. I'll keep adding to my cryptos and turning them into hard assets too.

I think crypto may be around but highly regulated and adopted by nations.so they can really control their citizens more. The FED has already said they want a government issues card where all your funds are added to it and that's all you use. Think about how much control that is and the scary thought is how many will give up control for convenience.
Metals are eternal though. People will always see them.as money even in the most remote areas. Think of Looper. Thanks for sharing

That's the scary part about crypto. It could be used for so many good things, but once the gov gets ahold of it, they will do the opposite.
I can't remember who said it but it was something along the lines of "A government that has the power to give you everything also has the power to take it all away."
