Silver of the Day #48

Sometimes you just need a break. You need to get away and enjoy some time in the sun. Maybe it's with your family. Maybe it's alone. Regardless, it's important to recharge your batteries. If your batteries are low, you may just need a trip to Island Paradise.

This is a casino token that I found at the local coin shop. I overpaid for it as it's not a full ounce of silver, but I figured that any good pirate would have something like this in their collection. As an added bonus, if I need to make a getaway, there's a fancy pirate ship on the back that I can use to escape.

This was a departure from my normal one ounce pure silver coins and rounds, but sometimes you have to mix things up.

What do you think about the casino token?

I like the artwork with the palm trees and very simple but clear 'Island feel' design :-) Someone put some love in it and you paid for that as a bonus to the silver price probably a bit as well :D

Being that there are so many coins/rounds that seem like they didn't put more effort into it than what one might see on an IHOP tablecloth, I think this one is really nice. There are some coins that you have to pay a bit more for one of them, but then you have that design. I don't feel the need to get another one with the same design, but I'm glad I have this one.

Even though it is not a full ounce, it is still really interesting to look at. Its super detailed and I like the rim around the coin. Makes the entire coin pop.

That was all kind of my thinking. Even though I would have preferred a full ounce of just silver, there was something about this token that popped. There is great detailing and overall just an attractive piece.

I have a few silver chips from Vegas casinos, but not from ships casinos. They are different than a round, because of the brass outcircle.

It's definitely unique. They had some tokens that were just like silver rounds, but I thought the brass looked cool. I don't know what they would have wanted for the other ones, but I think it would have been more expensive.

I like this one; the two-toned is really attractive. In Canada, we have a two dollar coin called a "toonie"; yep I know, we crazy Canucks. Our dollar coin is called a "loonie"...I can't make this up! Anyway, here's the toonie; reminds me of this, but opposite :) and obviously not silver :)

I know the loonies and their toonies. ;)

I thought I had some from a trip I took there, but it seems that I spent them all before I left. I always liked them. I think they're more interesting than the US's single-color coins. Although the dual-color ones are probably more expensive. Maybe not as they have to bond the metals together when they clad the coins, so who knows?

I certainly don't know haha, but I do know that they may look nicer than bills, but they're much heavier in the pocket😅

They're much heavier than bills. You have to be careful if you get too many. Otherwise, you might have to spend some of them on a belt. ;)

I like it that the token may be depicting my hometown!
Check this out, my friend @themanwithnoname:

Well, shoot. That could mean that even less of it is silver, but it's done, so I'm not going to worry about it. i figure if I'm willing to get suckered into buying it, maybe someone else would be if I decided to sell. Ha ha.

Thanks for the info! :)

This is a way cool coin, it is different, so of course it is rad. Any respectable pirate would love this coin. lol

I think it would b more respectable if the boarder around the silver was done in gold, not brass. That would make it rather expensive though, so I'm fine with the version I got.

oh my yeah that would be awesome haha :)
