World FIRST - Perth mint Lucky Chinese number 8 coin - 2oz #237
If you look at it, you can see that there is a dragon wrapped around the number 8. In China, this creature is seen as mythical, is a symbol of strength and bring wealth and good fortune. The Chinese word for the number 8 means goof fortune are money. And when 8 is on its side, it is the symbol for infinity. Each coin is struck with .999 silver and weighs 2oz each. There are 8888 of these minted which is fitting and the designer of the coin is Thomas Vaughan. The dimensions are 40.5mm wide, 70mm tall and 4.5mm thick.
Priced at £125, its out of my range but it sure is sexy to look at. Even the side with the details is really great looking with ole Beth there in the middle. I would love to have one of these but £62.50 an oz before shipping, on your bike!!!

The Perth Mint has some amazing designs on their coins, and a very clever marketing department. That is a very beautiful "coin" and a very clever design. There is a big Chinese market in Australia so I recon these will go very fast.
I think they will also go very quickly. It will be interesting to see what price they go for on eBay, i must check in around a month.

It is pretty sweet looking. I saw this one on the Perth Mint site and i have no idea who the official dealer would be in the States. This could be a treat coin for me if the chance ever came along
