The Ultimate SHTF strategy to safe guard your family if something suddenly happens to you #256

in #steemsilvergold7 years ago (edited)

As you guys know, sometimes my mind wonders and last week i was thinking about what would happen to the wife and kids if i were hit by a bus and died instantly. How would my wife have any idea what i have and how to get it. Its not like i have a lot but i would still like the family to get it. I know it a strange subject to be thinking about but we are all gonna die and we all know it's gonna happen, so why not plan ahead.

I was on amazon later that evening and decided to buy myself a leather bond, blank squared notebook. It has arrived today and i have decided to write down a list of all the stuff i will need to add to this notebook. This is something i will update as i go along and then replace the whole notebook in a new one every 2-3 years. I will do this to cut the fat, things from the silver stack may get sold, new crypto wallets have private keys, stuff like that. I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Things i will need to include in my Deadbook

  • Login details, passwords and answers to security questions for everything. Bank accounts, hidden account, utilities, investments, insurance's, ect
  • How to claim my life insurance. (cha ching)
  • Swapping the house deeds and household bills into her name
  • Were all the silver and gold stack is and how to sell it quickly and easy
  • All keys for my online stuff, youinvest accounts, exodus wallet, steemit, p2p lnding account, bitconnect ect and the easiest way to cash it out.
  • What to do with my stuff. Most for the charity shop but a few things i would like people to get.

It makes me think that 50-60 years ago, the things that had to be sorted were much less for the avg person. I can only think of bank accounts, house phone, household bills and insurance. I dont know much about investing back then but i would assume you would do it through the 1 guy in your town that does that. Not like the million investments out here on the interweb today. Sometimes i think it would be nice to live back in those times but i quickly change my mind when my phone pings and i read a message from a friend 8000 miles away while sitting in my nice big warm house filled with food, hot water and wifi. We have it good i reckon :D

What do you think about the idea of a Deadbook. Is this something you ever think about are have planned already? I never ever hear people talk about planning their deaths and what they have done to make things more easy for their family members to get things sorted. It sort of makes sense to have some plan but i guess it is one of those things most people only do when they are sick and know the their time is coming.

Definitely not a bad idea! Just have to safeguard it very carefully! You're welcome you're welcome, I know that was a very insightful observation there 🤣 I do think you're on to a good idea for sure. Crypto and private keys and what not makes it harder than just drawing a map to where you buried the cash and precious metals, hahaha

lol, i have a spot for it :)

Its prob gonna take me a few weeks to get it done properly. I normally plan my exits as i go into things, i like simple when the time comes.

Very smart to plan.

I think so as well. Change are we will all die with accounts that we forgot about 20 years ago, its just so easy to open account some where online and drop a few hundred into it and then forget about it. I mean like, you think you have emptied the account and there's maybe still £20 in there are something and you never log in again thinking its empty. You could gather alot of those over a few decades.
