🔥 Ancient Coin Exhibit 5 🔥
Studying ancient coins is quite the undertaking! The amount of history and variety of origins makes it a life long study. I have slowly been tip toeing my way into the market. Similar to any other collectible. Once your able to hold a nice example in your hand. The fire with in is ignited!
I intend to highlight some of the ancient coins I have been buying. I will include the known history. Atleast what is best to my knowledge. I am green to the market. That doesn't mean I can't share the information I have in hand.
Personally, I have noticed a dramatic spike in price and demand for ancient coins over the past couple years. Collectibles like this that will not be recreated. Hold a fair chance at appreciating over time. Diversity is key for any investor. This might be an overlooked market with huge potential ahead. .
☝️ Kingdom of Macedon, Philip V AR Drachm. Zoilos, mintmaster. Pella or Amphipolis, struck circa 184-179 BC. Diademed head right / Club, BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ around; monogram above, two monograms below; all within oak wreath, star to outer left. 3.72g, 19mm, 12h. Toned.
This coin came in today from my dealer in New York. It is the nicest ancient coin I have aquired yet. The strike and surface on this example is outstanding. I would argue this could be graded XF with a star designation. The colors seen in the photos are an exact replication of what it looks like in hand. So far its been a great experience hunting and learning about these coins.

Wow... that's a great looking coin. Hard to believe something so old is still in such detailed condition. I find modern coins only a few decades old in worse shape than this! Love the color and tone to this coin too. Thanks for sharing these with us. Keep em' coming! 😉
I find modern coins in worse shape as well. I have really enjoyed the toned ancients. Tough to come but are very attractive. Always a stront market. Thanks for checking out the post🤜🤛
Years ago, I've attended a free seminar on Ancient coins and it's quite a discipline and challenge but the history can be fascinating. That club is having an Ancient coins meeting in June, don't know if I could make it just in case I get that night off.
Let me know when the next ancient seminar is !! I want to go!!
Rats, that soon already.
Wow you weren't kidding !! Lol
The toning on that is gorgeous- what a beautiful find!
