# 527 - Canadian Commemoratives - Part 33
In 2014-2015 the Royal Canadian Mint issued a series called "Exploring Canada" celebrating the adventurous and courageous spirit of Canada's pioneering explorers.
Each $15 CAD coin weights 23.17g (0.75oz) with 99.99% silver purity and Matte Proof finish. The issue price was $54.95 CAD each.
The third is "The Arctic Expedition". It reveals a perilous phase of early Arctic expeditions, when a ship becomes trapped and potencially crushed by ice. The crew is unloading its supplies to travel by foot with sledges and dogs. Its mintage was 3,085 units.
The fourth is "The Vikings". It features an imposing Viking ship coming ashore on the rocky coast of Vinland (Land of Wine). The captain points the way as he directs his oarsmen seated behind a row of shieds. Its mintage was 6,601 units.
The obverses feature the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
