# 500 - 2 Euro Commemoratives - Part 35

in #steemsilvergold5 years ago (edited)

I love commemorative coins and, a few years ago, I discovered that the Euro Community was minting commemorative coins.

Each country has the right to mint up to two coins each year. They must be 2 euros, with the same face of a normal 2 euros coin and the same attributes and aspect.

The minting country uses the other side to show us what it is being commemorated.

They circulate exactly as the normal 2 euros coins.

The only exception to the rule of two coins each year is when they commemorate facts that affect the whole Europe. In this case the countries are allowed an extra coin.

They are Bi-Metallic Nickel-brass clad Nickel center in Copper-nickel ring, 8.5 g.

The first one was minted in Greece (2004) to commemorate the Athens Summer Olympic Games with a mintage of 50,000,000.

I will show all that I have, in no particular order.

The info about the coins was taken from Numista : https://en.numista.com/index.php

Today's first is a 2015 2 Euro from Germany. It commemorates the State of Bavaria. It shows the most famous view of Neuschwanstein Castle. The design shows the view from the east as visitors see it during their ascent to the castle, with the gatehouse in the foreground and the medieval-style towers and turrets.

The second is a 2019 2 Euro from Portugal, commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Flag of the European Union. It shows the EU flag as a symbol that unites people and cultures with shared visions and ideals for a better common future.

The third is a 2019 2 Euro from Luxembourg, commemorating the 175th Anniversary of the Independence of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. The coin depicts on the right hand side of its inner part the effigy of His Royal Highness, the Grand-Duke Henri, looking to the right, and on the left hand side of its inner part, vertically positioned, the years ‘1839’ and ‘2014’ and the name of the issuing country ‘LËTZEBUERG’.

Yeah! I love Castles! Is there a coin series that shows the different castles of Germany? I wonder. ... when one is in Germany, castles are structures to visit. My first and only experience of castles were in Germany. Thanks for this continuing series, @ronaldoavelino.
