# 447 - Some $2 CAD
The first Canadian $2 coin was issued in 1996 to replace the $2 bank note which was then withdrawn from circulation.
In 1997 the $2 coin was added to the Proof Set.
I will show you two of these coins. They were not ment for circulation because they are made of silver.
The first is a 2000 $2 CAD. It was issued as the "Path of Knowledge" commemorative. It shows a mother polar bear passing to her cubs the lesson of survival on the Arctic ice floes.
It weights 8.83g with 92.5% silver purity and Proof finish.
Its mintage was 39,768 units and the issue price was $24.95 CAD.
The second is a 2001 $2 CAD. The reverse design is the same since 1997. The obverse was the same from 1997-2003.
It weights 8.83g with 92.5% silver purity and Proof finish.
Its mintage was 74,194 units.

Those are some good looking coins.
The second is exactly like the circulating ones. The only difference is the material: silver.

Thank you!
Simple designs on those coins!
I love the design of the first one. The other is the same design of the circulating two dollars.
