Continuing the Modern Commemoratives Dollar series, we will present you today the 1992 "Columbus" graded by PCGS PR70 DCAM.
All coins of this series weight 26.73g with 90% silver purity. They were issued in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
They will be presented in the order they were minted.
This coin was minted to mark the quincentenary of Columbus’ discovery of the Americas.
The obverse design of the coin features a full-length portrait of Christopher Columbus standing with a banner in his right hand and a scroll in his left.
On the reverse is a split image of the Santa Maria and the Discovery space shuttle, intended to provide a striking contrast between the explorations then and now.
A total of 385,241 coins were minted in Philadelphia. The issue price was U$31.00. The actual price is around U$325.00 in this grade.
