# 147 - America the Beautiful Quarters - Part 9
Continuing the State Quarters series, the US Mint started in 2010 a new series depicting a national park or national site, one from each state, the District of Columbia, and each territory. It is called "America the Beautiful".
They will be issued in the order of which that park or site was deemed a national site.
Each year five different coins representing five different parks or sites will be minted.
All the coins obverses show the same profile of George Washington and the reverses were usually chosen in popular contests in each state.
Here are three more coins issued in this series.
The first is the 2014 "Shenandoah National Park" in Virginia. It was deemed a National Park on May 22, 1926. The obverse depicts a hiker at the summit of Stony Man Trail.
The second is the 2015 "Kisatchie National Forest" in Louisiana. It was deemed a National Park on June 3, 1936. The obverse depicts a wild turkey in flight over bluestem grass, with long leaf pines in the background.
The third is the 2015 "Homestead National Monument of America" in Nebraska. It was deemed a National Park on March 19, 1936. The obverse depicts a log cabin, two ears of corn, and a water pump, representing shelter, food and water.
