# 143 - Lincoln - Illinois
Continuing our series of the American Half Dollars Commemoratives, we will today present the 1918 "Lincoln - Illinois".
As all the commemorative half dollars, it weights 12,5g with a 90% silver purity.
This coin commemorates the centennial of the admission of the state of Illinois into the Union.
On the reverse we see a youthful head of Lincoln, beardless. Lincoln was born in Kentucky but in 1830 relocated with his family to Illinois, where he practiced Law and started his political career. Lincoln was nominated in 1860 as the Republican candidate for president.
The obverse depicted an adaptation from the Illinois State Seal by John R. Sinnock.
A total of 100,058 coins were distributed. The actual price is around U$350.00 in this grade.

One Hundred Years Old... Nice... I have some of the Series you're doing... I have the Hawaiian in a fantastic "ungraded" condition... I'd guess an MS-66...

The eagle is part of the Illinois State Seal.
