# 138 - Iowa
Continuing our series of the American Half Dollars Commemoratives, we will today present the 1946 "Iowa".
As all the commemorative half dollars, it weights 12,5g with a 90% silver purity.
This coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of Iowa statehood. In 1838, Iowa became a territory of the US and on December 28, 1846, it was admitted to the Union.
On the reverse we see an eagle holding a large looped ribbon, adapted from the upper part of the Iowa State Arms. The 29 stars means that Iowa was the 29th State of the Union.
The obverse depicted a structure with this inscription below: The Old Stone Capitol Iowa City.
A total of 100,057 coins were distributed. The actual price is around U$2,000.00 in this grade.
This series will continue very soon.

WOW, another very pricey coin, really rare in that condition! I love the depiction of the eagle... that is how eagles look when they are surveying for a prey, I suppose. Congrats on that piece. AWESOME!
