# 112 - Boone
Continuing our series of the American Half Dollars Commemoratives, we will today present the 1937 "Boone".
As all the commemorative half dollars, it weights 12,5g with a 90% silver purity.
It commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Daniel Boone, a famous frontierman, trapper and explorer.
In spite of that the bicentennial would only be commemorated on 1934, these coins were minted since 1934 until 1938.
The obverse showed the bust of a young man, said to represent Boone, as there is no original portrait of the pioneer.
The reverse showed Shawnee Chief Black Fish standing with Daniel Boone, who held in one hand a Peace Treaty and in the other a musket.
A total of 9,810 1937 coins were distributed. The actual price is around U$260.00 in this grade.
