Recycling precious metals and raw materials - Urban mining

In the past I posted some articles related to recycling gold, silver and other materials from E-waste.

I have done some small research regarding the amount of gold there is in used mobile phones.

An average mobile phone contains around 25 mg of gold. Compared to ordinary gold production, there is about 1 gram of gold in every ton of ore.

The same amount of gold can be found in 40 old mobile phones.

Looking at the enormous amount of electrical devices, computers, televisions and smartphones we are using and which will some day end up in a waste dump, it would be stupid not to look at recycling the scares materials inside these devices.

Today I read a nice article on the aureport.com website by David Morgan, related to this dubject I want to share with you.

https://www.theaureport.com/article/2018/10/09/two-companies-whose-innovative-technologies-could-disrupt-mining.html

It is about two companies that have come up with new technology that could lead to a more effective way in recycling E-waste.

This industry is in its infant state but is rapidly growing and will in my believe become a relevant factor in the “mining” industry.

Enjoy!
