Daily Coin # 57 A 1937 German 5 Marks from WW ll

The coin I am showing today comes with a truck load of opinions , and I am not looking for any here ! I am just showing a coin from my collection . The coin I am showing today is a 5 mark from 1937 Nazi Germany . This was minted to commemorate the life of Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg , known generally as Paul von Hindenburg . Paul von Hindenburg who lived from 2 October 1847 – 2 August 1934) was a Generalfeldmarschall and statesman who commanded the German military during the second half of World War I before later being elected President of the Weimar republic in 1925. He played a key role in the Nazi "Seizure of Power" in January 1933 when, under pressure, he appointed Adolf Hitler chancellor of a "Government of National Concentration", even though the Nazis were a minority in cabinet.
The obverse of this coin features a much hated and all too familiar symbol of the Third Reich . 
The reverse shows a rather stern looking Paul von Hindenburg facing right with the lettering 1847-1934 , Paul von Hindenburg . And the mint mark D(Munich)
The edge of the coin is smooth with incuse lettering that says "GEMEINNUTZ GEHT VOR EIGENNUTZ"( "common good takes priority over self-interest") .

The swastika is not the Nazis symbol. They stole that symbol from peaceful religious sects. The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being." The motif (a hooked cross) appears to have first been used in Neolithic Eurasia, perhaps representing the movement of the sun through the sky. To this day it is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. So again fuck the Nazis but the swastika is not a bad thing
