[Silver] Fat Ice Silver Round
On the coldest day of the year, a package showed up in the mail...
A little while back, @raybrockman offered his 12 troy oz Peace Dollar Silver Round for sale with STEEM. I jumped on the opportunity and sent over some crypto. A few days later, a package showed up in the mail.
I get out my trusty knife (a gift from being a patron of @mericanhomestead), and began opening the package. Something satisfying about cutting open a package with treasure inside.
I open up the package and discover a well packaged item...
What's inside...
This thing was COLD.
I picked it up and the silver round was so cold it felt like ICE. This inspired me to make some nice background for photography.
The metal was so cold as soon as I brought it out from the package, it began condensing water droplets all over it.
My girls had fun feeling the weight of the round.
Here are some photos of the reverse.
0.999 FINE SILVER ONE LB TROY (12 Troy oz)
That is one monster of a coin. What do you feed it?
Trust me, I'm a doctor.
This chunk of metal needs no food or water. @ironshield

It's big :-) 12 ounces its ~ 373 grams. Just wonder about the actual silver content as this is not an official strike but a privately produced silver medal.
Keep in mind that touching silver with bare hands will eventually leave some marks on the surface and any excess over bullion price which potentially can be realized on re-sale heavily depends on the actual condition of such item so in my opinion its better to avoid touching the surface. In principle if you have to handle any non-circulating coin just hold it by the edges but never touch the surface.
Thank you for the info. I considered getting a plastic cover for this round, but it's already tarnishing on the side and has some scratches and fingerprints, etc. I don't mind, I bought it for it's bullion, not collector value. I have others that have been preserved for collector resale.
The round is .999 fine silver. One lb troy, which is 12 troy oz silver.
@ironshield
Ok, so it is basically pure silver. Good investment :-)
Well, there is a tarnish and a tarnish - I mean that finger marks are no good while nicely toned patina actually adds (sometimes significant) value to the object like in this case:
Beautiful monster tone there! @ironshield
A very large and very beautiful coin. Congratulations
Thank you very much! @ironshield
Awesome big coin :)
It looks even bigger in person. And heavy! @ironshield
As the best conductor of heat there is, that cool silver pounder will warm up quickly too!
What a great buy from the Man!
Yes it did, it was at room temperature within minutes! @ironshield
That is a big round! Love the pictures.
It was bigger than I was expecting. The weight of 12 typical silver rounds. @ironshield
Wow! That's some coin! I love seeing your girls girls with it, as it gives a sense of scale to the beast! What are you plans for it? Paperweight, doorstop or just stashing it in the vault? :)
Ha, valuable paperweight! It's worth the value of an entry-level laptop! @ironshield
nice to see silver rounds making rounds with steem
It's an amazing reminder that these STEEM are worth something tangible. @ironshield
Gives a nice size comparison in the girls hands!
The photos doesn't give perspective of size, until you see that it's bigger than their hands. @ironshield
wow, that thing is huge, could you please show what the back looks like?
beautiful round.
Hello @raddog, I updated the post to included more photos. @ironshield
