My first silver coin - The Morgan Silver Dollar!
After writing My PRECIOUS!!!!, it's time to show you another silver coin that i am really proud specially this is my first silver coin that i own and made me want to add in time more and more silver coins to my collection.
So today i present you my Morgan Silver Dollar!
It is my first silver coin and despite the fact that is a circulated coin it is the one that made me fall in love and start collecting. The Morgan silver dollar was first minted from 1878-1904, and again in 1921. It has Lady Liberty on the obverse image and an eagle holding arrows and olive branch on the reverse image, and as a metal composition it is 90% silver and 10% copper.
The Morgan Silver Dollar that i own it's from 1896 and it's named after its designer, George T. Morgan, who designed the obverse and reverse of the coin.
The Morgan Silver Dollar was minted at five different branches of the U.S. Mint (Philadelphia, New Orleans, Carson City, Denver, and San Francisco) and was very unpopular with the public because of its weight and size and criticisms of aspects of its design. It even got the nickname “Cartwheel” because of its size and weight.
Another nickname that the coin got was “Buzzard dollar” because people thought the bird on the reverse side of the coin looked more like a buzzard than an eagle.
The circulated Morgan Dollar Coins like i have weighs 26.73 grams.
As an interesting fact a Philadelphia schoolteacher named Anna Williams was the model for Lady Liberty, the design on the obverse image and the Morgan dollar was replaced after 1921 with the Peace Dollar.

The more stories we hear on this forum, a high percentage received their first coins from our relatives, passing down constitutional silver. A vast majority was pulled out of circulation, smartly, when the coinage was debased, starting in 1965. Great story @georgemales.

Thank you. I have been posting everyday about different subjects but always about coins, silver, gold. I write the article on the day before it will be published. This night something happened and today's article disappeared. I will have to write it again. Do you know a way to save the articles before and after they are published ?
I write the article right away and publish it. I think the best way in your case is to write it in a Microsoft Word Document file and save it. Like this you can publish it any time... i hope my solution helps!
