Garage sale score
Hi all.
Just a quick one here for a garage sale find I got today.
So it's a 17 jewel incabloc watch, suisse made, not bad, but nothing special....
But!!!!!
The chain, I'm about 90% sure this is 18 K gold. Current gold spot is $55.25 / gram.
7.8g x $55.25 x .750 = $323.21
So that set me back $10.00 and if the chain tests like I think it will... Big score!
I like the little flower pattern on the back. Pretty.
It's a very pretty watch indeed. And it never needs a battery! And looky here, it's keeping time!

Us rummage salers know this doesn't come along too often!! I had to pretend like I kinda didn't want it, but then said "yeah, it's still ticking, and I kinda like old watches..."
Around here, folks don't seem to know the European hallmarks as well, so I sometimes find marked 417, 800, 750, 585, etc. And because it doesn't say 14K, 9K, etc, they think it's costume jewelry.

The watch is quite lovely and fabulously retro, I have an old gold wind up watch from my grandfather but it needs to be fixed to get running again.
I love old watches. I will suggest that you find a competent watchmaker and have grandpa's watch repaired. This little watch is quite the beauty, I have no idea why these people were only asking $10.00!!??!!. It's well worth $50.00 on eBay, so I guess they just viewed it as junk.
