Celtic Lore Series #5 The Banshee

in #steemsilvergold6 years ago (edited)

Welcome back my Steemian brothers and sisters to D Wings World! Today we are taking a glance as the fifth and final round in Provident Metals Celtic Lore Series. This round features the Banshee and has the same shared design on the reverse as the others. In terms of details, these rounds came in three finishes proof, antiques, and colorized limited to 2000 each. Each round is 1 troy ounce and made up of .999 fine silver. Below you will see the reverse featured on all the rounds in the series.

As I have said in my previous post on this series the reverse design is done just as well as the obverse. I believe this is a key to why the set was so popular as well as the fantastic folklore that is depicted. The Celtic knot around the rim with a traditional wolves head on each side makes the reverse pop. Add the Celtic shield in the center with the great font on the series name above, and boom we have a winner!! Now onto what I consider my favorite design of the series, the Banshee.

Howard David Johnsons art on the COA is truly stunning with the crimson locks of the banshee contrasting the dark misty cemetery background. Plus the beauty of a Celtic Cross headstone that is right beyond her figure. It may be I just like red heads, but as I said above this design is my favorite. I do think this is the only time in the series where the design on the round out does the original artwork. With the mist removed from the image in the round design you see more wooded area behind the Banshee and the creases of her flowing gown really stand out. Not to mention the intricate and spectacular design on the Celtic Cross headstone.

According to Provident Metals the "Banshee is a fairy-like creature that foretells death by wailing in the presence of someone who is to die soon. Though the banshee represents an omen of death, she does not cause death." I believe the reverse of the COA not only does a great job of describing the details about the round, but the Celtic knot around its rim links it to both the obverse and reverse in this round. I was very happy to receive number 706 out of 2000! What a wonderful way to end a very stunning and strong series!!
Thank you guys for checking out my content and this great series from Provident Metals! What do you think of the Banshee and did you guys pick any up? I appreciate your support and hope to see you on my next post!

Nice! I do like the design and details of the celtic cross and dress. I do think perhaps they can do better for her hair though... looks overpuffed.
