The Steem Ecosystem and Opportunities
I was talking about the Steem ecosystem with @vonaurolacu, one of my brothers in the @steemromania community, and I realized that this is the best place I found on the internet. The opportunities that are available here are immense, combine this with the fact this is a place where finance can be outsourced, it starts being one of the easiest places to run projects and also develop products. I will try to put together some elements that can be used in order to facilitate whatever outcome may be desired.
Utopian.io
This is a project that is designed to reward contributions to open source projects, at the current value of steem it can distribute over 10.000 USD in rewards per day. They have strict guidelines when analyzing a contribution, in order to reward only the good ones, this work being done by a team of moderators.
The very interesting thing about it is that you can run any open source project and if it qualifies for votes from Utopian.io, you can outsource the entire financial side of rewarding people that work on the project. This means that all you need to do is have an idea and find the people that believe in it and are able to do the necessary work, without having to find investors or take money out of your pocket. This is a game changer!
SteemSTEM
This is a project still in its early stages, but in principle is designed to reward scientific contributions in the steem ecosystem and facilitate scientific work. This is something fantastic because it can attract a lot of forward-thinking people which can eventually be financed to build their projects and impact the world in a very positive way.
I can very easily see a combination between Utopian.io and SteemSTEAM in creating an open source science project. This could open future doors for the steem ecosystem to become a generator of innovation and technological progress, and because there is no financial stress to create high return products, we can create technology that is specifically designed to better human life.
Tribesteemup
This is something I am really grateful for because I am one of its beneficiaries. This is a project created by @kennyskitchen and has the purpose of rewarding conscious creators, acting as a community abundance generator. The subjects that are of interest to this project are Anarchy, Non-Violence, Philosophy, Veganism, Mindfulness, Community Empowerment, Love, Original Music, Esotericism, Healthy Recipes, Psychedelics, Truth, and Permaculture.
There is no official way of submitting a request to be part of this community, but @kennyskitchen is constantly on the lookout for new conscious creators, so you would need to catch his attention with good mindful content, not with other shenanigans.
Fundition
This is the newest project I know about and is a decentralized, peer to peer crowdfunding platform that runs on the steem blockchain. This is crowdfunding with a twist because you can also support projects with just a vote, without giving any money out of pocket.
If this project succeeds in scaling and attracting people, it will pave the way for many ventures to be developed here, furthering the innovative potential of this ecosystem.
Steemians
This is not a project, but a reality that we are among the first 1 million people that were able to see real potential before the other 7 billion. Sure there are scammers and users that want to make a quick buck without any effort, but there are also thousands and tens of thousands of people that have specific skills and are willing to build something worthwhile.
Networking in this system has two advantages, it maximizes the rewards you can get with posts and it can also help you find people that are likeminded and start building projects or communities.
Conclusion
We need to get to work, the steem ecosystem is the best place to find collaborators and build projects without the need of outside finance. It does not matter if you are in IT, science, esoterism, literature or any other human endeavor, if you dig in the blockchain enough you will find a community that is centered around your passion.
This is as close as possible to an ideal situation and we need to fully take advantage of this context.

If it is a real opportunity which I am convienced like you are that STEEM is a great opportunities to build applications, network and build communities.
The easy things come first, like upvote 4 upvote or bidbots. The sustainable things take some time to be developed, but we are on our way to a fantastic community and digital space :D
Yes success takes consistent efforts, talent and ideally chance.
Having the 3 of them is best, 2 can give sucess, 1 aspect only will require a tons of it and woN,t generate a big success.
But yeah tons of people with talents and perseverance in the Steem community. Let's cross fingers for luck ;)

There's some great looking initiatives here! I'll be exploring the later especially.
Just one thing.... there are considerably fewer than 1 million active users! I'm quite keen that we don't kid ourselves about how many users are using the platform.

You are correct in what you said about the active users, there are approx. 60.000 daily active users, @penguinpablo gives us some grate reports :)
