Why I am here.

I have been checking Steemit for a while to follow up on happenings in the Crypto Currency space. What drove me to finally sign up I that I just recently finding out about the SteemQ protect for video uploads similar to YouTube. As we all know YouTube has been censoring speech and targeting individuals who have the wrong political affiliation or point of view. I find this to be totally unacceptable and thus have ceased uploading videos.
I barely make a dent on YouTube but something about supporting an organization suppressing speech is troubling to me. I have never viewed an ad on Youtube and associated that ad with a particular channel where the user may have politically incorrect views, most of us simply skip ads when the option is available and think nothing else of it. Whats even more interesting there are many music videos with questionable content yet they are not censored. In essence this move by Youtube is strictly politically motivated.
At this time I have stopped uploading videos and have been looking for alternatives. It seems Steem and SteemQ is the way forward, the future is bright as more people are becoming aware of what is at stake if companies such as Google are allowed to continue down the path they are heading. I have not fully read the getting started guide yet but I am happy to be here and I eagerly await the video upload feature.

Thank you for the post and the shared thoughts on the touchy subjects, I also got out of youtube to steem on here, it happened naturally, good content started drying up and it was a few years before I was discontent with the whole YT, it started becoming more and more like a TV station with all the "trendy" things that I ran from in the first place when YT was still a booming new place where everybody was having fun communicating, sharing, playing so on, now it's algorithms and people that either play by them or loose out.
I have to say that they have updated their search and if you log out you get some nice suggestions on interesting topics, but if you stay profiled, the information will never reach you, unless it's selected for you :| truly shameful, so even if it has some amazing info there, it's hard to find and for me at least going from watching to reading did me a lot of favors :)
