Definitely a possibility. Policing copyrighted content may always be an issue regardless of what system is used to display video.

I don't fully understand about those things yet, but with the little knowledge i have about this subject your idea looks like it makes sense, but I'll keep an Eye at the other comment too, It is always good to others opinion so we can all learn together

I totally agreed with @andyluy
also love your memes <3
keep it up ;)

Nice meme indeed. Let the force be with you.. And the Video transfers. lol

Amazing idea!! no one got here in this space.

But, as the very technology it depends on network seeding....

What if the video lacks seeds and leechers?

Direct upload can handle that problem. But the torrents need the seeding. If a video blogger had to step on this... then he need to pay for seedboxes. Because every individual cant able to afford such high bandwidth it requires. May for couple of videos. Its OK!!

But, for a video Blogger?

As @jwolf said, witness may solve this issue. If not, then steemit platform should take care about seedbox thing, then its a big YES!!

Just my opinion. I may be wrong in my understanding about torrent file sharing system. I am open and positive to get corrected.

Thank You.

may be or may be not !! Following and upvoted hope you follow too @blazing

I was wondering how much storage just the photos were taking up, let alone the potential video storage requirements. $104 million, that's a lot of Steem!

I can't see Steemit decoupling from YouTube anytime soon with those figures!

@abh12345 the article is 5 years old also and the storage/network demands are exponential, so I bet it's at least double by now.

Yes the numbers are mind boggling to say the least! I wonder what plans, of any, are in store for this.

The are are quite a few data hosting apps coming on the blockchain. Two that I know of are Storj and Sia. Hopefully once these techs mature we can have some ways of using them through steemit

True, most likely steem community can just copy working code from one of these projects if they are open source, like how steem is coying the POW from Litecoin for account creation in hardfork 20.

Get steem for seeding, everyone will seed!

There's also those applications that allow streaming of certain Torrents which could save on bandwidth rather than having to DL the entire file to view anything.

Yeah just reward steem power to seeders

Idea is good to have bittorrent but if steem can introduce their own cloud storage service that will be perfect.

The nearest thing I can think of is Burst Nation Radio. Only that is only funded by and not on a blockchain metaphysically. I mean like that would be a phoneme chain or similar. Maybe steemit could fund it's own YouTube. Maybe it could buy YouTube. Just not yet.

This is brilliant, copyright has always been a big issue and the fact is everybody wants to do the right thing and give content creators their due it's just that a big cut goes to the middleman. By putting content on the blockchain ( and we are now doing it with LBRY and other Cryptos) we definitely know it's possible. Now if we can integrate that into steemit via some smaller cluster bittorrent style like @inventor16's idea it would add a whole new value to Steemit. ( That would be like steemit becoming Facebook and Youtube in one place! ). We do have a lot of smart people that can maybe figure this out, heck they might be doing it now. I can already imagine me in a way hosting the content while also watching it at the same time. Please take my 100% Upvote kind sir.
