Wine Review- Alamos Malbec 2016 - Mendoza Argentina
It's been a busy couple of weeks for the MJ family, so it was a rare treat last night to be able to sit down and enjoy a glass or two of wine with Mrs MJ.
We openned a bottle of Alamos Malbec 2016. The flagship grape varietal of Argentina, and a grape growing in popularity for red blands around the world for its deep ruby dark richness and robust tannin.
If you're trying to identify the different wines in a red blend, a tell-tale sign of Malbec is the violet ring on the surface around the edge of the wine.
We found this wine a little sharp to start. It had some dark fruits and light floral notes, with a touch of spice and wood. It did settle well in the mouth, and had a strong and smooth tannin in the followthrough.
It wasn't as easy drinking as some othe Malbecs we've had, but we found a little trick to help the medicing go down... Pop a few of these bad boys in you mouth and see how everything changes.
A bit of sugary chocolate took the initial sharpness down a notch, and smoothened everything out quite nicely.
Overall a good, robust Malbec, but nothing to jump up and down about. A solid 3.5 out of 5 is our rating for this. Probably a 3 without the chocolate 😉.
Ok, so pair Alamos' Malbec with M&M's and you're good to go! I've heard about chocolate and wine pairing however this takes it to another level, lol ;)

I prefer dark chocolate with my reds, but go with what you’ve got!
