My ArtVenture: Watercolor painting „St. Giles Cathedral“

in #steempress5 years ago (edited)

Hello dear Steemians,

Today my post is lat but I have just finished my watercolor painting. I love watercolor because it is very challenging and difficult medium. That requires a lot of patience and time. But at the end if you decided to put all your energy and love for painting it will repay with beautiful result.

Living 20 minutes away from Edinburgh, of course we visit the capital of Capital of Scotland on and off, despite of being there so often. I still love to visit some architectural wonders. One of it is St. Giles Cathedral, is also well known as High Kirk of Scotland, it is located on the main touristic street that leads to Edinburgh Castle.

The cathedral has very unique crown, that is why I decided to use it for work. Also in front of the Cathedral is the sculpture of the Scottish economist Adam Smith.

I hope you like it, please enjoy.

This is beautiful. Initially, I thought it was brown pencil you made use of but as I scrowelled down while reading your blog, I realized you used water color.

Bravo!

Thank you for stopping by. I know what you mean, first I was thinking about doing it with my sepia chalk because the print is old and already brown yellow. But at the end I wanted some contrast but not so much. As watercolor Artist like loose style rather than precise I thought to limit my color palette and contrast too. But watercolor was great medium for this projects :)

This is a really nice architectural painting, I like the 3D feeling in it.

Thank you @artmom, I am really pleased to hear your comment and glad you like my work :)

Very cool artwork, Steffi. What a monumental architecture!
