I've moved to Hive, along with most other people, following Justin Sun's takeover of Steem in the Spring of 2020. I believe hive is a lot more decentralised than Steem!
Your dark existential Doctor might be of more use to us in these troubled times than a whitewashed Pollyanna version. Can't help noticing that the programme has moved to Sundays, perhaps it has usurped Songs of Praise?
Here here! \n\nWhen I saw it got moved to Sundays it just brought back bad memories of how I felt watching Last of the Summer Wine and Howards Way the night before school. \n\nBad times. Now a generation gets to associate that with Dr Who. It's just as well they've made it shit.

All of mainstream entertainment seems to be going down this path. Nothing can be done about it. Indie production is pretty much the only thing where freedom from this sort of thing is achievable.
There is something disturbing about every show having to change the sex of an important character these days. Remember the new Battlestar Galactica? Starbuck was reborn as a woman. Whose idea was that? Is there supposed to be a large group of young girls who want to be like Starbuck? In the female Starbuck's case, it's not even about turning him into a sexy kick-ass female sidekick. The female Starbuck is simply a tomboy and not an incarnation of the femme fatale archetype.
That's interesting. I do remeber BG from back in the day. I had no idea. \n\nI've nothing against it as such but with this new Dr it seems they've handed it over to a team obsessed with PC - it's just too obvious what their agenda is!\n\nMight cause a backlash ?

In some form or fashion perhaps. But I don't think it will happen in mainstream entertainment. The social cost of being perceived as being reclaiming a male-only space can be very high for a man these days. I don't think a lot of men will be ready to risk becoming a persona non grata after seeing the public spectacle of what happened to Larry Summers or James Damore. You could argue that the entire gaming scene was once a PC-free zone but in recent years it, too, has been infiltrated by the PC brigade.
The annoying thing is I can think of the 'types' from work who are leading this type of thing... not the most able people to say the least, but now with more power than ever.

Universities can basically be written off these days. I wonder what the long-term consequences of that will be. Hopefully, with universal basic income and blockchain-based content delivery platforms like Steem, scientific research can flourish in an open environment. The publishing houses that own scientific journals make up another class of parasites. I predict that for many reasons, cutting edge science will increasingly be done outside of academia in the future.
Quite possibly. Those academic publishing houses are just leaches.
