RE: SteemPress ready to curate Steem-powered WordPress blogs with 1 million Steem Power

in #steempress6 years ago

So Steempress allows people to simply repost the content from their site or blog to Steemit ? I thought content posted on Steemit had to be original ? What is the point of allowing people to simply repost here to gain rewards ? It does not encourage them to use Steemit as their native platform and hence the chances of them engaging with the community here look minimal.
Wont cheetahbot flag eveything as plagiarised? Sorry but Im failing to see the principal here ?

Lots of sites use wordpress. This is a huge understatement.

Lots of content here is utter shit. Lots of content on wordpress sites isn't.

They are hoping to make it convenient to wordpress authors to post their non-shit content to steemit to make content on steemit look better. They are hoping the votes will lure them to use their plugin and steemit.

This is all a good thing for steemit.

Yep, it sounds great until the canonical link issue raises it's ugly head again. Until Steemit INC fix this issue, I'm unlikely to switch my blogs over to steempress-io.

Getting penalized for duplicate content is a real concern with this plugin.

I recommend authors who are concerned about the SEO of their blogs to use our feature that delays posting to steem by a day or two, or even a week, to ensure google credits your own website as the original source.

SteemPress will still upvote your content if it is original and not spam. You can also consider the option that only posts the first few lines of your article with a link to your blog.

Because Steem is not the same as Steemit. By adding your content to the Steem blockchain, you ensure it cannot be censored, you are able to reach new communities and readers, and you are able to earn tokens. The goal is to let Steem, the blockchain, empower wordpress blogs. It is not simply to enable quick double posting to steemit.com.

We collaborate with steemcleaners/cheetah and communities to make sure it is not flagged unless it is proven to be plagiarized from other sources than their website.

Now i just got confused, @fredrikaa (sorry I'm new to Steemit!).

  1. What's the difference between Steemit and Steem blockchain?
  2. When i use the SteemPress plugin, does my post not get reposted directy on my Steemit blog? I guess your talk about Steemit vs. Steem is what's confusing me here.
Do you mind clearing the air (or pointing me to a resource that does that)?

Thanks

Steem is a decentralized blockchain on which many applications and websites can be built.
Steemit is a centralized website owned and run by Steemit Inc which displays content posted on the Steem blockchain. Steemit is, and will continue to be for a long time, the most used interface people have to engage with the Steem blockchain. However, it is not at all needed to use or benefit from Steem.

About SteemPress, yes all posts made with SteemPress can be viewed on steemit.com under the account name that was entered with SteemPress through wordpress.

Thanks for the clarification, @fredrikaa :)
