Good to know that you are healthy now. I haven't exercised for a long time and my spare tyre around my waist is getting bigger. Maybe I should try planking. Any advice for beginners?

Hey. Thanks for stopping by. Technically, body fat is caused by food intake. Try to reduce sugar intake, high energy food such as rice, noodle, bread, even porridge. Six packs abs are made of kitchen, not the amount of exercises. I choose plank simply because I'm lazy. You can start with 10seconds. And then gradually increase 10seconds on a daily basis. By day 30, you're already 5 minutes planker! But I guarantee your belly fat still there if food intake not being controlled.
