Una Casa para el Parlamento

Saul avanzó lentamente con la máquina deforestadora, abriendo un sendero entre el frondoso bosque del sur del continente este de Heracles. la extraña pieza de ingeniería, parecida a una langosta, flotaba impulsada por un colchón de aire al tiempo que un par de gigantescas tenazas se encargaban de, una, sostener y tirar de los árboles, mientras que la otra los desenraizaba para luego, sostenido por ambas pinzas colocar los enormes troncos íntegros con todo su follaje, sobre lo que sería la cola de la langosta, donde un descomunal remolque tenia capacidad para al menos doce árboles, antes de tener que ser reemplazado por otro.

Al crecer la expansión de los humanos por el brazo de Orión, fue necesaria la implementación de un organismo de gobierno que permitiera, normar sobre aquellos asuntos que involucraran a toda la humanidad, así que, como un acuerdo de todos los mundos colonizados y sus respectivos gobiernos locales, se decidió formar el Parlamento. El cual estaría formado por una representación de cada mundo y como sede de este organismo global de gobierno, se seleccionó uno de los más apacibles y céntricos mundos, Heracles, un agradable planeta con sólo dos grandes masas continentales, completamente cubiertas de coloridos bosques, en el cual las únicas siete ciudades existentes ocupaban apenas un 0,005% de la tierra del planeta.

Con el propósito de ser la cede permanente de este parlamento, se empezó la construcción de la novena ciudad de este idílico mundo y se situaría en el continente oriental, el cual hasta la fecha no había sido habitado. Contando sólo con algunas pocas instalaciones turísticas que eran habitadas temporalmente durante la primavera y verano del planeta.

-Saul, cuando hallas cargado el remolque por completo, tomaremos el receso para comer- dijo una voz por el comunicador de Saul, mientras aun estaba absorto operando las pinzas de la deforestadora.

-Entendido ingeniero- respondió Saul, sin prestar mayor atención.

Los árboles desplantados por Saul, eran transportados por un deslizador, que los llevaba en sentido contrario, por el sendero, para replantarlos en el extremo sur del continente en una región con bosques menos densos.

Dos árboles después, Saul detenduvo la máquina como le fue indicado, para tomar el descanso para almorzar. Tras bajar de la gigantesca deforestadora, se sentó en medio del campo, donde lo acompañaron Ricardo y Martha, dos operarios de deslizadores que estaban en la zona a la espera de las cargas de troncos.

En medio de una amena conversación sobre los resultados de la liga de futbol de Heracles, donde el mejor de los equipos, apenas si calificaría como para jugar en la liga infantil de los otros planetas del sector y tras comer su almuerzo y tomar casi un litro de jugo de naronte, Saul sintió la imperiosa necesidad de vaciar su vejiga.

Tras avisar que debía ir al baño y pedir que no le molestaran, se internó un poco en el bosque en busca de un buen sitio para además de orinar, poder también despejar su intestino, se aproximó a unas rocas en medio de unos grandes árboles y tras verificar que nadie lo había seguido, para hacerle una broma, se dispuso a bajar sus pantalones, cuando se percató de la extraña forma que tenía, lo que le pareció era una pequeña loma o una gran roca, frente a él, estaba cubierta de vegetación, pero tenia una forma que le pareció reconocible, se volvió a abrochar el seguro del pantalón y se aproximó al extraño objeto, recostó su mano y sólo pudo sentir la humedad de la capa de tierra y musgo que lo cubría, entonces lo pateo con su outa de punta metálica y pudo escuchar el reconocible tañido de un metal golpeando contra otro.

-¡Rápido vengan a ver esto!- grito alarmado.

-No queremos ver tus cochinadas Saul, date prisa que tenemos que proseguir- respondió también a gritos Martha.

-Es en serio muchachos, tiene que ver esto, encontré algo en el bosque- siguió gritando Saul.

Martha y Ricardo se guiaron por los gritos a donde estaba Saul, y lo encontraron de pie al lado del extraño objeto, Martha se lo quedo viendo fijamente y su expresión repentinamente cambió a una de asombro.

-¡Maldición eso es una nave como la Perseo!- exclamó extasiada.

-Sabía que se me parecía algo conocido- dijo Saul.

-¿Qué demonios hace esto aquí?- pregunto Ricardo.

-¿Eres tonto?, ¿no recuerdas tus clases de historia?, de la Tierra salieron ciento cincuenta naves, Perseo era una de ella y nunca supimos nada de las otras ciento cuarenta y nueve, esta debe ser una de ellas- dijo Martha – corre y llama al ingeniero, el sabrá qué hacer con esto.

Roland Anderson el Ingeniero, se comunicaría con la dirección de la empresa constructora y ellos con los contratantes del gobierno local, pocas horas después, una nave del ejercito con todo un equipo de arqueólogos, geólogos, ingenieros y pasantes de la Universidad de Polaris, escoltados por un pelotón de efectivos del ejército, aterrizó en medio del sendero, tras los deslizadores, sus ocupantes se dirigieron apresuradamente, ante la vista incrédula de Saul y los otros trabajadores de la construcción, .a escarbar en la semi sepultada nave colonizadora.

La nave encontrada era la Orfeo, en efecto una de las naves colonizadoras que, según los registros históricos, casi trece mil años antes, habían salido de la Tierra. La Orfeo se habría estrellado trágicamente, tras fallar su sistema de propulsión al tratar de aterrizar, Heracles no habría sido su destino, sino uno de los planetas vecinos, pero Herbert la inteligencia artificial, encargada de seleccionar el planeta, se habría decantado por el idílico Heracles, para a causa de una falla, desplomarse en este lugar y tras también fallar el sistema de alimentación, quedar inhabilitada la inteligencia artificial de la misión y colapsa todos los sistemas.

Pocos años después sería inaugurado en este lugar un monumento en homenaje a la Orfeo, y la ciudad que serviría de sede del Parlamento, llevaría su nombre también en su honor. La nave permanecería en este lugar en memoria de un intento fallido por propagar la especie humana y a su alrededor sería construida la nueva ciudad.

Nota: el naronte es una fruta producto de la ingeniería genética y sería el resultado de implantar genes de fresas, en naranjas, dando como resultado una fruta similar a la naranja pero con un sabor peculiar que que no guarda similitud con el de ambas frutas.

A House for Parliament

Saul advanced slowly with the deforestation machine, opening a path through the lush forest of the southern part of Heracles' eastern continent. The strange piece of engineering, similar to a lobster, floated on an air mattress, while a pair of gigantic pliers were in charge of holding and pulling the trees, while the other unrooted them and then, held by both pliers, placed the enormous integral trunks with all their foliage on what would be the tail of the lobster, where a huge trailer had capacity for at least twelve trees, before having to be replaced by another.

As the expansion of humans by the arm of Orion grew, it was necessary to implement a governing body that would allow, regulate on those matters involving all humanity, so, as an agreement of all colonized worlds and their respective local governments, it was decided to form Parliament. Which would be formed by a representation of each world and as headquarters of this global organism of government, one of the most peaceful and centric worlds was selected, Heracles, a pleasant planet with only two great continental masses, completely covered with colorful forests, in which the only seven existing cities occupied only 0.005% of the planet's land.

With the purpose of being the permanent seat of this parliament, the construction of the ninth city of this idyllic world began and it would be located in the eastern continent, which until now had not been inhabited. Having only a few tourist facilities that were temporarily inhabited during the spring and summer of the planet.

-Saul, when you have fully loaded the trailer, we will take the break to eat," said a voice on Saul's communicator, while he was still absorbed operating the clamps of the deforestadora.

Martha and Ricardo were guided by the screams to where Saul was, and they found him standing next to the strange object, Martha stared at him and her expression suddenly changed to one of astonishment.

Note: the naronte is a fruit product of genetic engineering and would be the result of implanting genes from strawberries, in oranges, resulting in a fruit similar to orange but with a peculiar taste that bears no similarity to that of both fruits.
