SP are Influence tokens which give you more control over post payouts and allow you to earn on curation rewards.

By adding to your Steem Power, the weight of your votes gets higher. You get more power.

Let me give you an example of the importance of having steem power. Let's say you have two followers in steemit, one of them has a lot of SP and his upvote is worth $20 and the other person has a low steem power and his upvote is worth 20cents. Which of them will command more respect? Who would you want to socialize with? Who should upvote your post?Who has more power?

Having a good amount of Steem Power is a great simple way to reward those that help enrich your online presence with their comments and contributions. Bottomline: You can reward and encourage your followers by upvoting their comments.

As a Content Curator, you get to reward the content that you like; content that you perceive is quality content; content that can make the community grow and improve over time.

BETTER THAN STEEM

Steem token are diluted at 100% per year. They effectively loose value as they are held, while Steem Power increases in value as it is held.
SP generates passive income, the higher your SP the higher your rewards. If you're not planning on cashing out your Steem any time soon then power up!

PASSIVE INCOME

Do you know that by accumulating SP and doing nothing you can make money. This is a good investment. Some of the biggest whales in steemit don't create or curate content. They just have a lot of SP. I don't understand this fully right now. I believe that despite the fact that the price of Steem will be $100 one day and people hodling will be stinking rich, just having SP is a way to earn passive income. WHAT IS YOUR STAKE?

Participating in steemit is like mining. It is actually referred to as social mining. When you upvote a post in the Steemit, you give out a certain portion of the daily pool of steem that is created. You also receive a portion of that pool of funds when someone upvotes your post. The amount that you give or receive is depending on your stake in the platform. It depends on the amount of steem you have invested (your Steem power).

The greater your Steem Power, the greater your rewards.

Whenever I see someone with a lot of steem power, I usually feel happy that someone else shares something in common with me. It gives me a sense of belonging. I feel that I belong to something bigger than myself.

Blockchain technologies like Steemit will revolutionize the way we perceive value. Value will sudden become more valuable.
Steemit is a revolution of the way value is percieved and transfered in social media. A lot of other platforms will look at what has happened here and try to copy Steemit but Steemit will still remain the boss.
