Our regular Finance Wednesday writer @prettydead24 is ill and unfortunately will no longer be writing for @SteemPh. Although that saddens me, I understand that she needs to look after herself and her health first and that's a priority right now.

I suppose it was luck or destiny, or a bit of both that over the week @webcoop has stepped up in @SteemPh to help guide our community through crypto highs & lows, making him the perfect candidate to write Finance Wednesdays.

It is now my pleasure to introduce and welcome @webcoop as our new Finance Wednesdays writer/curator.

Let us start this Finance Wednesday Section with a question.

Who would want to not ever work again for a living?

I guess all of us would be saying “I do”, and who wouldn’t want to have that, living comfortably without working. FINANCIAL FREEDOM, sounds great isn’t it?

Well, I have to tell you something. Wake up! Not all of us were born filthy rich, we have to work hard in the hope of achieving that financial freedom, and hopefully as a retirement plan.

The saying or quote, “You Have To Crawl Before You Can Walk” applies to everything, in life, in finance, etc, and that is what we do.

Why don’t I tell you something about myself or my experiences.

I work at the mines with reasonable pay but I still try to see if I can expand that or try to see any other way of earning money or what we call it an “extra income”.

The best source of “extra income” is something that you already like doing. I will put myself as an example again. I love learning and experimenting with codes which lead me to making my websites and registering a web hosting business. I have 1 or 2 client but that don’t matter because the satisfaction I get to what I’m doing is another reward and the money I earn from it is the bonus.

So what’s all these got to do with us here in steemit? I will answer that question with a question, why are you here in steemit? We are here because we do like writing, blogging, arts, singing, and making videos. When we post it here, we get something in return when people sees it, liked it then upvote it.

Can we consider steemit as our extra income? Most definitely, you are earning steem/sbd on your posts and you can cash that out anytime you like.

But I’m only earning cents and sometimes nothing at all, you might ask. Well, that cents will become dollars when you add it all up. By the way, that is steem dollars (SBD) and STEEM, don’t forget that 1 SBD/STEEM is not actually 1 USD. At its highest, 1 SBD is about $14 USD.

When you are not getting much in steemit or getting only 0, don’t despair, just keep at it. You persevere because you love what you are doing and it gives you satisfaction. “If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad”.

And the people who says they are getting only zero in steemit, I would say to them DON’T BE LAZY, research and ask around because help is just right there next to you. There is PAL minnowsupport that gives $0.09 upvote and upvoteph from steemph that gives out $0.02.

Steemit is a social media so be active, engage with the community, I’m am pretty sure there are communities here that you can belong to.

I have kicked off the Finance Wednesday focusing on extra income and it will be the main subject on the next articles to come. So if you know any great ideas for an extra income please share and we will cover it on the next posts.

We all agree that steemit is a great source of extra income. Tell your family and friends how great it is to be getting rewarded for doing what you already love doing. Tell them that the videos of them singing on facebook can be posted on steemit as well and probably get rewarded.

This is what I picture in my mind this is why I am passionate about getting the word out there about Steemit especially in Philippines.

Imagine a high school student already using steemit. He/she is enhancing his/her skill academically if he/she happens to be writing or blogging whether in English or in Filipino. Or a high school student who is showcasing his/her talent and sharing it to everybody in facebook, youtube and on steemit.

These high school students would have amassed SBD/STEEM by the time they reach college and by then hopefully the value of steem/sbd would be very high as well.

And that's just one example of how Steemit can impact lives in the Philippines. Imagine all the possibilities, all the things we can achieve with the power of Steem.
