in #steemph7 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemians,

Welcome to my travel blog again!!! You see I've been taken by my feet again to another beauty of Cebu. Just can't contain that adventurous side of me.

This time I am finding a place for peace of mind, a perfect gift for myself after some stressful week of our Year End Inventory.

Have you been to the renown Taoist Temple of Cebu City? Sounds unfamiliar?? [//]:# (!steemitworldmap 10.294958 lat 123.909618 long Taoist Temple d3scr)

Well this blog is meant to take you there.

HISTORY OF CEBU TAOIST TEMPLE

The Cebu Taoist Temple or The Philippine Taoist Temple Inc. is situated inside Beverly Hills Subdivision, Cebu in the Philippines. The building of Cebu Taoist Temple commence in 1972 by a group of Chinese. The main temple is elevated over 270 meters above sea level and the highest area is about 300 meters above sea level. It has a nearby temple named Phu Sian built by another Chinese Community but is not open to the public.

Cebu Taoist Temple is the place of worship of Taoism . The architectural design is a replica of the Great Wall of China. It is open to both worshippers and non-worshippers from 8am - 5pm. The devotees usually pray to the God's to grant their wishes and asks for answers to both minor and major decisions in life.

Cebu Taoist Temple is one of the main attractions of Cebu. Local and foreigners visit the temple in the afternoon. As you get there, not so big parking space allocated for the visitor's services and motorcycles as well.

You are entering the sacred and temple place so please observe the silence, solemnity and peace while the devotees perform the rituals and meditations. This kind of ritual include dropping of two kindney shaped blocks of woods. If the blocks of wood are both face up upon reaching the floor it means once can make a wish. If not, it means it is not yet for one's wish to be granted and needs to come back again in the temple.

Here is the challenge; before reaching the peak of the temple, the devotees or visitors have 181 steps which represents the 81 chapters of Taoism scriptures. Sounds tiring?? Well, going up the stairs quiet tiring but with good company is worth it.

Inside the temple includes chapel, library, souvenirs and wishing well. It has a spacious balcony to view the scenic beauty of the Cebu City.
