NEW FEATURE: Viewing The Tags/Categories That Steemians Support & Fund - In Depth | Steem Ocean

in #steemocean6 years ago (edited)

Now we can see exactly which categories of posts on the Steem blockchain that each user is voting for, with the amounts they give and the number of votes too. Steem Ocean's Examine a Voter page has a new feature!

Thanks to @cryptosharon for suggesting today's improvement. She wanted to know not just which category is the most supported by each account, but also how many times they vote for ALL the categories they vote for and also how much each category receives from them. So now that is easily visible in a new table at Steem Ocean.

The following is the view of my own data currently:

Category List at Steem Ocean

As you can see, I focused during the indexing period mainly on voting up posts and comments relating to the London Cryptocurrency show. Note: When you upvote a comment (as opposed to a main post) then the categories for that comment are taken from the main post - so some of the upvotes you will see in this table are for comments and not for main posts.

How will you use this new tool? To find new friends? Optimise your time on Steem? Let us know in the comments!

Wishing you well,

Ura Soul

(Witnesses are the computer servers that run the Steem Blockchain.
Without witnesses there is no Steem, Steemit, DTube, Utopian or
Busy... You can really help Steem by making your 30 witness votes count!
Don't forget, there are more than the 50 witnesses you see on the witness voting page in steemit.com)

I run a social network too!

Can be pretty damn interesting to see the voting patterns of some whales

You are a pretty good self-voter, yeah! ;)

There are definitely worse sel voters

You have my utmost respect: I do not want to judge anyone, I assure you!
Greetings from Italy!

You can't go in reverse, though, right? Click on a tag and see the people who vote for it a lot? You have to already be looking at a person, ergo, not for finding new friends?
I like it to examine my own habits, though.

You can click on someone in one of the lists, such as the voter rank list and then examine their patterns. You can also then click on the posts they voted for and check them out and who is voting for them, etc. I will add a page that lets you go in reverse too at some point ;)

NICEEEE :D

As for my usage, I'll probably just stalk whales and see what they do on Steem. :D Lol

edit:

What is the order in which they're shown?

image.png

It seems that it's neither alphabetical nor votes cast, vote value or vote percentage.

I also think that a scroller could be added for each of the two tables so that each table is not so far apart from each other. Another thing, and sorry for pestering you hahaha, is that you could add clickables to Percent, Vote Value and Votes cast to order them ascendingly by any of the three categories, or at least from votes cast and vote value.

I think maybe you need to refresh the page. That list should be sortable by clicking on the list headers (like the other lists on the site). The default sort order is to sort by payout.

Oh, yeah, you're right! Now it's properly paginated and sortable. I just had to reload. Weird. Thanks for the suggestion and thank you so much <3 <3 for adding the functionality so quickly. <3 I'm so in love with your website now. You got a new witness vote :3

Yes @ura-soul, it's a very interesting tool to find new friends! ;)

Thank you very much!

It's me! ;)

For example, from your own data you've shared, I've found out that category voted for most is news with 52 times of casted vote. And as such, if I were to locate a friend who shares common interest with me as regards the news category then I'll easily pick you as a result of the above analysis.

This is a beautiful innovation, and I think it will help Steemians achieve more, well done @ura-soul for sharing and happy new month to you

It is a very nifty add on to a great tool for visbility.

I checked mine and most tags that I vote on are life, steemit and blogs. I am surprised on the photography though.

I noticed that from a rank of about 440+ I fell down to 660+ as yuou said that you were doing some tweaks on how the ranking was being calculated.

It could be that you had voted up comments underneath photography posts.
Your drop in rank is probably because there are a lot of users who have almost no SP who are upvoting large amounts of accounts. Since the algorithm now gives more weight to voting high numbers of accounts, things have changed.

There will probably be another shift soon when @arcange fixes the SteemSQL database - there have been some votes missing.

Oh that would explain it because I still maintain a 75%-80% voting power and with the knowledge of the dust threshold I needed to increase the weight of my upvote on comments which resulted in less votes that i could give out as I had to dial down on the upvotes on good comments that I see on other people's post that add value to the conversation.

I have no idea of steem ocean before now, hmm this is quite interesting, thanks for bringing this to lime light,or I should say to my knowledge. Kudos
