🔥Mishna & Gneg 🔥 Steem Monster Official Lore and Artwork SNEAK PEEK!

Mishna & Gneg cover photo.png

In a secret and ornate lair, nestled in the cavernous depths of the Molten Mountain, the great High Priestess Mishna is stoking a fire. Lost in the twirling and tumbling flames, she wonders how many more of her Ferexia must be sacrificed before the Prophecy can be fulfilled. As the flames of Mireyya’s Keep climb ever higher and approach the surface of the Burning Lands, Mishna fears that her people (in spite of their adaptations) will all perish in the cleansing fire.

Drawing herself away from the light of the stove, Mishna turns toward her companion. Gneg the Cyclops is seated in the massive armchair where he often can be found, perusing the words of scrolls, each marked with the insignia of the Torch. A huge monocle leans awkwardly against his one giant eye, which is grotesquely magnified as it looks up to meet Mishna’s gaze.

Mishna speaks a simple phrase, a familiar phrase: “Everything will burn.”

Realizing that the High Priestess is in a particularly volatile mood, Gneg pauses and carefully considers his response. In all the hundreds of years of ongoing conversation between the two, Gneg has never quite mastered escape from this particular trap. Philosophical Flyfishing he calls it, and yet again he will be the fish, fascinated by the shiny object. “Just as the Prophecy prescribes, my queen.”

Before the words have finished echoing off the cavern walls, Mishna responds. “These fools know nothing of the Prophecy. They think they know fire, but the fire that comes from below will melt their foolish notions.”

Gneg lights his pipe, and as an absurdly large cloud of smoke fills the air, he responds. “The Torch has been making great strides in their interactions with the other Splinters. They have finally taught most of their working class how to at least understand the common tongue, even if it may take them a few more generations to learn to speak it.”

“These creatures speak in oofs, grunts and gargles, and we expect them to learn the intricacies of the common tongue. Don’t make me laugh, Gneg. I’m a thousand years old, you know how I feel about smile lines. Joking aside, my poor flaming fools need to understand that the true Prophecy is not simply about setting things on fire.”

Gneg is clearly befuddled, but willing to question further. “But everything will burn, my queen.”

“This is merely a truth of the universe, my Cyclops friend. Water burns stone through wear and persistence. The light from the sun burns eyes, skin and earth. I can even rub my hands together until they burn. Indeed, everything burns. But the Prophecy is one of unity, not destruction. That which was Splintered shall be made whole. This is what has kept me awake at night in these recent years, Gneg. I daydream of the rest I shall find when I know my Ferexia are safe. I long to sleep.”

A long silence settles in as Gneg begins to ponder the final words of the episode. He knows the High Priestess will now withdraw into her aloof, dream-like state for a matter of weeks. He also knows that it has been nearly a hundred years since Mishna last changed her mind. Gneg watches the large smoke-puffs from his pipe flow gently toward the ceiling of the cavern and thinks to himself, “things are going to change in the Burning Lands.”

YESSSSS THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED SINCE THE GAME STARTED. SOME GOOD DAMN ASS L O R E

I was thinking of kindof getting further into detail in like the daily quests lore since we've had (until this post) no story what so ever of the game. Sure, the lands splintered but we don't know why how or even when they will unify again if that ever happens. I'm so glad and hyped that these things are being considered. I even want to participate in any way I can if that's even possible!

Dude. I feel ya. We have hundreds of pages... but are formatting it beautifully for a book. 😍

There was a contest several months back where people wrote HUGE documents for each Splinter. Winners were announced and since then, me and hubs have been putting everything together with perfection... Hopefully. 😎

And VERY soonly we'll have the first chapter: Anumun, The Earth Splinter to show off.

But... we have all this amazing artwork being created for the book... and we wanna share it!

This way we can sneak out some stuff... probably twice a week... to feed those needs.

And soonly, daily quests will be more interesting... we've written a LOT of those with lore backstories that will be implemented. Plus, sounds!

Oh! I'm so excited!

But I do get how it feels 'slow' cause we are all doing this together in real time... rather than working secretly in our basement for 2 years before releasing. We release as we go. It's kinda exciting that way. 😍

And... regarding 'participating: Yes! There will be things to help with as we continue on... so many more elements coming... all crowd-sourced. Keep an eye out for things and pop into the Steem Monsters Discord to stay updated.

Hell yeah i'm down for this! I love that you guys are taking the approach to release as you go and not keep us on a cliffhanger just because that's what you guys want. I'll keep my head popped in the discord server for any lore opportunity that arises!

Keep up the good work guys, you've got me hooked!

We've been keeping you in suspense, I know.

We have created a world of endless conflict, opportunity and possibility. We don't know why the world splintered... it happened nearly a thousand years ago. The Splinters all have different takes on it, and they all have their own interpretations of the Prophecy.

I'm ready to bring you all into this world now, albeit a little at a time. :)
If you have any lore questions, Carrie and I probably already have the answers. Feel free to ask.

I really would like to know more about the death splinter because that's my favorite thus far, but heY, IM REALLY INTO THIS FIRE MOMMY YOU GUYS JUST SHOWED US. So yeah, Fire and Death are the ones that interest me the most and probably the ones which i'm most lore hungry for.

First off I would like to know each of the splinter's take on the prophecy and what they think about it and what are their plans. I really like how this is going so far, I feel this sort of child's excitement when it comes to the story of the game, so don't keep us waiting too long!

Here's a rundown of Mortis, the Death Splinter.

The Dark Eternals are zealots, a diverse collective with a unified goal: Their mission is to rescue the living by bringing their souls to the one true dark reality.

In their missionary work, the more charismatic of the Dark Eternals travel the Splinterlands spreading the dark gospels. Those of the living who sign the Dark Contract are reborn as Dark Eternals upon their death.

There is one living settlement in Mortis, a city called Beluroc. They party hard in Beluroc.

Appreciate your support :) Thanks!

That's fucking amazing I love it.

Im thinking of writing an original story for a contest in which a silvershield paladin refuses his knighthood and turns to the dark side, becoming a missionary of the Death Splinter. But I don't want him to turn into a sort of Zintar (who looks like more of a mage) or like a Skeleton Assassin (which looks like a brainless enemy). I'd want that character to turn into some sort of a Death Knight of some sorts.
I guess he'll head down to Beluroc once his path is revealed to him.

Thanks for the Lore insight! I'd really wish I knew more so I could write and imagine more things about this great blockchain experience!
