Steem Monsters : The Dominance of the Life Splinter
When you climb get out of the Bronze league, you start seeing many Life Splinter decks, and they are all similar. After a while you can predict what is coming, 'it's those cards again', you simply know it before they are placed.

Silvershield Paladin, Divine Healer, Peacebringer; surely you have seen this combination? The first THREE cards are almost always these ones and in this order sometimes with an Air Elemental at the rear.
It's not a bad deck, to be honest, but fares badly against my Death Splinter deck. One reason is that my Summoner, Zintar Mortalis is at level 4 whereas most decks in my league (currently Gold II) are at level 3.
Duh... well greater levels = more powerful; that goes without saying.
However, I have seen some weaknesses I can exploit using my Death deck even though the tank (Silvershield Paladin) is quite hard to hit due to his shield effect.
Haunted Spider is a squishy beast at level 1 and doesn’t get that much better later in the ranks. At level 4 he gets poison and this makes a difference.
If I can poison Silvershield Paladin, then he may as well be eating worms. Don’t overlook this powerful DOT (damage over time) spell as it hits for 2 per round and there's no cure!
Haunted Spirit is already an amazing tank. At level 4 he hits for 3 and has 8 health as well as self-healing every turn. He also gains Magic Reflect at (4).
Magic reflect is very bad for this Life Splinter deck as Divine Healer insists on sending magic damage over every turn which reflects back to him.
Screaming Banshee gets blast at level 3. The blast always hits Divine Healer thus weakening him even more. This is the weakness at placing the Healer in slot 2.
Once Divine Healer is dead, Silvershield Paladin is a lot more exposed and falls quickly.
On doing the daily quest yesterday I had FOUR Life Splinter decks challenge me, all with this combination and all failed to kick my arse.
There have been a few mentions of BOT’s using the deck some with the name 'BOT' in the username; bring em on...., the more the better!

I found found that any heavy magic hand can dismantle that life combination pretty easily until you get to about the Diamond Tier. If you are doing dailies it can be hard to find the cards you need in the splinter you are assigned to. If you are just grinding rank you can move pretty far using a water deck over and over.
The water splinter, yes this is the other one Im building up. So I have a 40% chance of getting the correct splinter for the DQ and then another 40% on the second attempt.
I will power up a 3rd splinter and that should be enough unless Im really unlucky? Which one for the 3rd? the life..? ;)
I really like the Fire Splinter. There are some good fun cards in that one.
lol... I have to get more into the actual strength of certain cards. I still have the idea I just click some cards together haha....
There is some strategy involved by it's little compared to Magic.. which I dont tend to write about now as nobody knows what the hell Im talking about!
And I’m still thinking Magic was easier to play because I feel like @verhp11 clicking something together. With Magic i was selecting the cards carefully in my deck by reading their descriptions on and on till I was sure what the card could do against every color. Now with monsters it is fun to play a quick game but I actually don’t get any deeper in the game... how do you prepare yourself for the matches? Because I like your explanation about the life splinter deck👍

I don't look too much into it. With MtG it is a lot more complex, as that game is 20 something years old now. SteemMonsters can evolve too and thats what makes it interesting.
So your doing the same as me, just some clicking to create a team of monsters and you're ready for the battle?
Steemmonsters can really evolve into something like Magic, I do really believe that.
I'm currently trying NOT to spend any STEEM and using the reward cards, but I know I will need to invest some more soon to level up a 3rd splinter.
At Diamond, you get 10 cards for the DQ's which is decent. I would like to do that daily if possible.
This is definitely a group of bots that have chosen the ideal low cost life splinter. That splinter works pretty well but you're right it's not much of a match for the death team.
I actually prefer the clay golem as a tank!
I like the spider... I also like the twisted jester which cld snipe that healer in two rounds. Unless they play some other magic creature in front.
TBH it doesn't matter what you play - higher levels win 80% of the time. The challenge in monsters and more than half the fun is in trading up wout investing anything!
Where did you get the card stats from with all different levels?

I cant say I have seen the Golem used as a tank yet. My experience is not in Diamond though... yet.
Jester is great, he hits for 3 and has 5 health at level 3.
This is a challenge, and involves playing only the DQ's. I sell the junk and buy with the funds, so similar to you. The end of season I suppose swamps the market for a few days. Where are the beta's coming from? Now they are not given out, they are going to rise I think.
You cant, but you can use your own cards in the 'Collection' tab, which happen to be at the levels shown in my case.
Oh ok that's cool... so you have some levelled up to 8?!

level 8? not likely! level 4 is about my limit.. the number of cards after that gets stupid. Whats your largest level?
I've got (surprise, surprise!) a nice life splinter deck with most common and rares up to level 5. H20, death and earth are mostly levels 4/5. Fire is my duff one.
I'm looking to purchase more neutrals TBH. I think they're the best value cards in the game.
The real barrier to going any higher is the summoners.
The life bots are ruining the game for me @slobberchops because I only have level 2 or 3 summoners so I can't beat them. When they have the elemental at level 2 at the end, which they frequently do, I'm toast. 😂
It's frustrating as hell and totally imbalanced as far as i'm concerned!
But the people who have influence don't play in the lower leagues so have no idea what it's like and nothing, so far, has been done about it.

Your doing well flirting with the diamond league with lvl2's and 3's. It is mostly about how levelled up your cards are vs how much you win.
I still see monsters being placed in the wrong positions though by enemy players, which result in defeats than could have been avoided.
I just do the DQ's now and ramp up my rating close to the end of seasons, probably much like you do.
I didn't get a level 2 account to diamond League. There's no chance of that. I was lucky with the Level 3 too. I just happened to be playing when the life bots were absent and the other players had similar level cards.
There was absolutely no chance to complete a DQ once I hit diamond though. 😂
I try to do that. I think most people do who don't have maxed decks. But it's not always possible to complete a DQ if the life bots are active. I've learned to walk away as it's just too frustrating. 😁
As a long term gamer you learn to do this quickly. If a leisure pursuit is pissing you off, its no longer leisure!

Good point! Although I see it more as an investment than a leisure pursuit. I'm after the cards, in the hope that they will go up massively in value and John can retire early. 😂

I do pop ups...so an hour before it starts I announce.
And I'm planning to stay at Novice and Bronze level, which allows most everyone a 'fighting' chance.
I'm also very organized...VERY. So it's easy to learn and get the hang of it. 😊

I tried a couple but, despite them being novice level, I was matched against Champion League players in the first round so that was that. It was all a bit chaotic.
I tried the Gold one this morning and actually managed to win a couple of games as I got lucky with the rules.
Didn't progress far though and I didn't expect to as I'm missing paladin, defender, magi of the forest, swamp, haunted spider to name just a few.
It was more to see what tournaments are like having never played any before.
It al sounds fascinating and even vaguely alluring, but I know I haven't got th staying power! Death Splinter sounds fab, though, very cool.
I'm doing myself out of games sharing this stuff, hopefully the life lads wont catch on!
I was thinking that! I had a couple of recommndations for restaurants yesterday, both quite near where I live, so I'm looking forward to a couple more reviews. Waiting until the January slough is out the way!
I felt that way about the Haunted Spirit when I was starting out. Now I feel that way about Selenia Sky. I’m about to upgrade a bunch of cards today and prepare to work my way slowly up the ranks again.

She's pricey at $4.69 for one, you must be up in the sky ranks somewhere if you using her.
Just about to start my daily quests and that combination with the life splinter is one I use often as well, it does well but as you say isnt invincible
Lol, I am a fan of the death splinter too and usually pump the life splinter with exactly the same kind of tack :O)
