Announcing the winners of the 'Steemmonsters Creative Contest and a brand new 'Water Elemental' Steemmonsters card giveaway

Creative Contest Entries

8 days ago, I published a contest post in which I asked participants to create their own Steemmonsters card using the Monster Maker app.

I realize giving away reward cards as a prize - even if it were 3 cards instead of 1 - wasn't such a good idea. After all, everyone has plenty of them.

As a result, only 2 people joined the contest. But the Steemmonsters cards they made were definitely worth it, in spite of the fact that they were the complete opposite of each other.

Let me show you:

How do you like @primus' 'Baby Axolotl' card?

I did a Google search on the Axolotl, and this is what I found:

The axolotl is one of the few animals on earth that can regenerate parts of its body. Native to Mexico, the axolotl is an unusual amphibian that has deep roots in Aztec mythology. According to legend, this “water monster” was a god who disguised himself as a salamander to avoid sacrifice. ^Source

I think this must be the cutest monster I've ever seen!

I'm glad that he has self-heal because apparently, the axolotl is a critically endangered species.

The second entry wasn't nearly as cute as the one above. Monsters come in all shapes and size, but @stortebeker's 'Tarantula Hawk' really gave me the creeps.

His comment revealed a little more about the 'abilities' of his monster:

Getting my inspiration from the natural world, I picked the Tarantula Hawk. Paralyzing a tarantula and laying its egg in the live spider, which will hatch into a larva and eat its way out of it, seemed like the perfect horror scenario for the victim, and quite appropriate for an actual monster card.

I completely agree that it seems like the perfect horror scenario for a harsh @steemmonsters game.

If it would be an actual card, it would probably give me nightmares every time I had to play it...
