Taking the Plunge and Spent 6,000 DEC on the Brilliant Mystry Potion
I decided to go big or go home and do the brilliant potion. I like the idea of getting a 100% chance of getting a daily reward. I felt like it a was a big gamble to spend about 15 STEEM. That is a coulpe of really nice legendary cards, or a lot of common cards that I need to level up.
I went with the Brilliant because I wanted something everyday... I felt it was better for me mentally to not feel like I made a mistake.
Day 1
Logging in on Day one I see this
Getting excited, I get lead to the next door...
Sweet, I got a card!
Drum roll please!!!!!
Ummm ok
Not the start I was hoping for... but ok. I am sure tomorrow will make me feel better.
Day 2
Day 2 was just the same, I got another package, that was another card. I was hoping for a better result this time.
Not feeling good
2 days in and I got about 2 of the worst reward cards. I really hope it turns around
Day 3
Day three changed. I don't have a picture, but I got an Orb to open. Good news is an orb is at least 5 new Promo cards. I am feeling better. This reward is worth 2500 DEC if you are just to buy it. Lets see what I got.
Pretty good I think.. Honestly I have almost none of the new cards yet so I struggle to know what is good, just that I need to level them up to level 6 summoners. Its going to be a while.
Day 4
Oh no... Back to a single reward card. Lets hope for something better than a common....
Ok its a rare, but this is not what I was thinking for 6000 DEC...
Day 5
My last day, hoping for the best... but I get another single reward card.
Ugh, overall I am a little sick about spending 15 STEEM for these cards. I get the gamble, but 4 normal reward cards and I promo pack just does not seem to be a good trade off.
Overall thoughts
Mystery Potion are not for me. I know others will hit the lottery and get a $200 card, but I did not and think my deck will grow better if I buy the cards I need.
I think buying Orbs might be a better deal, but I don't know if I will do that either. I am buying the
Brilliant Quest Potion, I do like getting 5 extra cards a day and I make enough DEC to sustain this forever. While I could extract more STEEM to buy cards, I am ok getting more cards that might be epics, legendary or gold. 25 cards is a pretty good trade off I think.

Thanks for the article. Interesting to see your experience. Ive only just started playing in the last week or so and have not used DEC to buy anything yet. Not that I even have all that much!!. I notice you can convert it to steem engine or to TRON. Have you tried doing that to buy cards? Surely there is a way to do this. I dont have a TRON wallet yet so I havent tried and dont really even know what Steem engine is !!

Should be the same credentials as you use for here using either steemconnect or keychain. If you take it to the Steem-engine, You can sell for SSTEEM and by cards. You might be able to do the same with TRON, but I have never done that.
I run another account called @senstlessmonster, where I start with the starter deck with no additional investment. Only what I make via selling the reward cards and DEC. Check it out, its been running since Janurary, and is doing well, the DEC has really helped me get more $$ for cards.

havent spend any so far...not sure if I just sell them for steem or gamble with them yet
I am going to sell some for steem, it will offset my investment, and allow me to buy the cards I need. I will keep the 5 extra cards a day rolling, I like that
Dang, that is bad luck! I bought one a couple of days back and have gotten 2 reward cards, an orb and a beta pack. Even though I did not do to bad, I am not sure if I will do it again. Like you mentioned, that is around 15 steem or $5 at the current moment. It would be real easy to bank this up for awhile and really start earning rewards from SM.
I just pulled out 10k DEC for 25 steem and powered it up. Felt good... I was running numbers on just how much steem I could power up in a year, and it was honestly shocking. I am going to have make a run at it and see. It's hard not to start buying more cards, but so many cards with higher prices is giving me a pause right now. When ever card for level 8 is $4-7+ I have to consider how I spend my steem..
