Steem Monsters Alpha Card Supply - What are the rarest individual cards? March 31, 2019

in #steemmonsters5 years ago

Hello Summoners!

This week saw a few more cards being combined, with all the alpha cards becoming rarer in supply - except one monster which saw no new combines, but actually saw an increase in supply, due to people opening old boosters.

First, here's an interesting chart showing the delta in distribution levels between commons, rares, epics and legendary cards.

There's an enormous delta between each rarity in terms of raw card supply, but the interesting part about this chart is that today, the rarest common is at the same level of overall supply as the most common rare from five months ago. The "rarest rare" hasn't cracked that line just yet, but it goes to show just how good an idea it would have been to harvest as many common cards as possible in the past.

Uniquely, individual common cards of a max level hold the overall highest value, and it is likely that these will only increase in rarity as time goes on. There's less and less new-listings of alpha commons on the market each week, and as listed supply is purchased, the price continues to rise.

Based on current market rates, an alpha max level deck is valued at around $1700USD

But what are the rarest of them all?

Commons

Silvershield Warrior14662
Minotaur Warrior14746
Rexxie15664
Spineback Wolf15744
Animated Corpse15787
Grand Total261108

The Goblin Shaman is the rarest common card. It is no surprise regarding the most common common cards, due to their lack of utility in comparison to the other ones - with Rexxie, Spineback Wolf, and Animated Corpse generally not played all that often.

Supply for these has changed a little, week on week.

Rares

Silvershield Paladin7103
Clay Golem7247
Undead Priest7280
Stone Splitter Orc7302
Frozen Soldier7329
Pit Ogre7572
Grand Total124292

Almost all of the Summoners have made it to the top of the list for rarity. Zintar and Tyrus are lagging behind by a significant number in comparison to Alric Stormbringer is by far the rarest summoner. It is interesting to see the Silvershield Paladin being fairly common, given its excellent strength and utility as a stabple of the White Splinter. The same goes for the Undead Priest, which is a staple of the death team, but remains in large supply in comparison to other common cards.

Epics

CardIndividuals Available
Swamp Thing2578
Air Elemental2711
Fire Demon2758
Naga Warrior2778
Defender of Truth2819
Magi of the Forest2835
Mischevious Mermaid2847
Serpent of the Flame2971
Screaming Banshee3108
Dark Enchantress3235
Grand Total28640

The Swamp Thing is the most scarce epic. It is no surprise that the Dark Enchantress and Screaming Banshee are the most common, with both of these having limited utility, and are not used on a regular basis in combat. The Swamp Thing has always been a staple of the green team, and remains as such. All the Epic cards prove to be very useful, but there's over 100 more "max" Dark Enchantress cards still yet possible when compared to the Swamp Thing.

Legendary

CardIndividuals Available
Selenia Sky706
Spirit of the Forest745
Frost Giant760
Lord of Darkness776
Lightning Dragon777
Gold Dragon809
Elemental Phoenix824
Chromatic Dragon831
Angel of Light871
Grand Total7099

Selenia Sky Remains the rarest Legendary Card. She's a summoner, so this makes sense. The Dragons themselves are fairly common, and the Angel of Light is the card with the most plentiful supply as a Legendary, and yet the only card in the game with Resurrect.

Summary

There hasn't been a huge reduction in availability of Alpha Cards this week.

Last Week's Supply: 422,793

Current Supply: 421,139

Difference: 1654. (Less than 1%)
