Steemmonsters Dark Energy Crystals update's SUMMARY
What's new? DEC
Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) are about to be released. It's an ingame cash system, it acts as credits. It doesn't promise financial returns, but it's also a token both on the steem-engine platform and tron's.
How to obtain
- Burn a card. It will be destroyed, but you'll get DEC from it. It matters how rare the card is. Legendaries are turned into the most DEC, while commons give the least DEC. Gold cards also mean a lot more DEC.
- Win ranked matches. The higher your ranked points are, the more DEC you will get for each win.
- There might be more ways to get DEC in the future, but this is what has been revealed for now.
Limitations to get DEC from ranked battles
You get a "mana" bar. When it is full, you get max (100%) rewards from ranked wins. For every ranked match you win, your mana bar will drop by 1%, so you'll get 1% less DEC than if you had a full bar.
You slowly get 25% of that bar back a day, so if you want to maximize your DEC gain, you can't win more than 25 ranked battles per day.
What you can do with DEC
- Craf them into temporary boost potions. There are 3 versions of each potion. Stronger versions cost more DEC.
- Purchase limited cards. These are powerful cards with very limited availability that you can't get from boosters or any types of rewards. They can probably be traded on the market, though.
- Skins / alternate art cards. Different versions of your usual cards. Grant no extra benefits, but look good.
Future plans for DEC
The dev team would like DEC to be the main currency when trading ingame cards instead of steem/tron, but how that could work is not set in stone.
Guilds will be added and DEC will play a major part in guild dominance, but no further details are given.
Other kind of items might be added, which could be necessary to craft new useables like potions and spells. This one is just interpretation from the last paragraph from the official post.

The higher your ranked points are, the more DEC you will get for each win.
Ranked points difference to your opponent does not matter.
any idea what are the bonuses for alpha and gold cards? As in one alpha card provides 20% increase in DEC received. But what if there are 2 alpha cards in the deck, does it stack up? Same question for Gold and promo cards.
Yes, they do stack. I know this for sure as I get 40% bonus in some battles.
I think it's 10% for each alpha being used. Gold also stacks, probably 10% as well. Can't say for sure but I think it's 20% for a gold alpha. I'm also under the impression you just add the %s, don't multiply. I don't have any promo cards, so I wouldn't know.
