My Steem Monsters Collection - Update - "Common" and "Rare" Sets Complete!

in #steemmonsters6 years ago

My collection was missing two "Rare" cards, the Earth Elemental and the Twisted Jester, and I noticed they were costing around 10-12 cents on the Monster Market. So far I've mostly relied on giveaways to get my cards, but I still had $0.288 SBD and $0.250 STEEM left over from my starter pack upfundme campaign earnings, and since beta cards were about to come out and alpha edition card prices might rise, I figured I might as well use that amount to get the two cards.

So, last Sunday I purchased a Earth Elemental and a Twisted Jester from the Peakmonsters market. They cost me $0.237 SBD in total (here is the Steemd link of the transfer) and completed my "Rares" set.

Image source: some of my cards, including the Earth Elemental and the Twisted Jester, as seen on the "Collection" page on Steemmonsters.com, filtered by type ("Monsters") and rarity ("Rare").

Since Steemmonsters.com doesn't give us the option to look at other people's collections, here is the Peakmonsters link if anyone wants to peek at my collection :P .

Now I have all Commons and all Rares, 4 Epics, no Legendaries and no Dragons. My next step is to go for the epics.

The "Epic" cards I'm missing are the following ones:

Fire Demon, Serpent of the Flame, Naga Warrior, Magi of the Forest, Air Elemental, Screaming Banshee.

After the two "Rare" cards purchase, I was left with $0.051 SBD and $0.250 STEEM from the previous upfundme earnings, which isn't enough to get any of the cards that I don't have. I guess it's back to hoping I can get a couple of them from giveaways...

Or maybe start another upfundme campaign? The beta cards came out this week, and at least for now, the prices don't seem to have changed much. "Epic" cards are costing around $0.40 on the market, and from what I've observed from my starter pack's upfundme results, a couple of posts might be enough to gather STEEM/SBD for one card. I'm seriously considering to do this instead of relying solely on luck with the giveaways...

Speaking of prices, I was curious to know whether the starter pack's price has changed, as one of my main worries before buying mine was that the price might rise after the beta sales started. At least for now, the price is still the same. If not logged in, it's $10 USD ($5 for the pack and $5 to create a new STEEM account), and if logged in, it's $5. I hope it continues unchanged so that new players can join the game easier, especially the STEEM plankton.

Nice @aiyumi,

I don't have any of these, but I'm trying to sell my golden cards to buy more packs and them start to increase my quantity of rare cards. Do you have any gold cards? Do you try to sell or not?

I'm just holding onto all my cards for now. Never combined any card to level up (I want to get a feel for the battles and the cards' usefulness first), and never sold any card (they're worth just a few cents now, maybe they'll be worth more in the future when the alpha cards become rarer).

I have one gold foil Pit Ogre that I unexpectedly won in a giveaway. I wasn't even thinking about going after gold cards yet, but it came. I guess I'll just "hodl" onto it and see what happens.

Nice @aiyumi,
I think that gold cards aren't sooo good, because is the same of normal cards but just rarest, that is why I am giving away from them. First I want to have more and more cards and after that, I will find a way to get the rarest cards.
Cheers!

The only differences I know of are that the gold cards start at a higher level (my Pit Ogre starts at level 3 instead of 1), and I think they're worth more XP when combined too. The Steem Monsters people also said that in the future there'll be tournaments that only gold cards can participate.

@aiyumi cool post my friend! I'm not really up to date per se...what's this Steemmonsters? Is it like Pokemon trading cards or something? Always cool and learning something new from you lol! Upvoted your post to support :)

Yes, it's a digital trading card game that uses the STEEM platform! The game is still in development, and they're implementing the battling part. People have been so excited about it that all 300,000 booster packs of the alpha edition cards have sold out. Now they've started selling beta edition packs (limited to 600,000, and looks like those are selling like hotcakes too).

They have a Kickstarter campaign to attract players from outside the STEEM/crypto base, and the campaign page does a great job of explaining what Steem Monsters is (much better than if I were to try to explain it!). :D

Hahaha @Aiyumi come visit Canada!! Ooooh so is this gonna b like Pokémon crypto style?

When I got introduced to Steem Monsters, one of the first things I heard was that we'd be able to collect, trade and battle. Pokemon was the first thing I thought of, too! :D
