Autocuration Of Posts Based On Web Traffic AnalyticssteemCreated with Sketch.

Increasing the value of the Steem platform and the price of STEEM has been the talked about a lot. @exyle made an excellent post entitled Every upvote given needs to be offset by an equal amount of value coming into the Steem Blockchain. He says he has discussed the matter with the @oracle-d guys while visiting London.

A good way for an app that has released a token of its own to boost the token value would be to employ a suitable web traffic analytics tool to rank posts made using the app and upvote the posts according to an analysis of the traffic they generate. This would directly tie the upvote value of a post to author rewards given to it by the app account in possession of a relatively large proportion of the token. A 50/50 author/curator split would reward other users for upvoting posts auto-curated by the app account based on actual traffic generated by a post. Search engine optimization instructions tailored to the content supported by the app could be offered to users by the app developers.

One of the problems with this is the one-week payout window which would have to be extended because really useful content is often timeless and would deserve being rewarded without any time limits. There are multiple ways to remedy this problem. The obvious one is extending the payout window. That obviously does not work for content meant to be useful for a very long time. But there are ways to work around the payout window limitation. What the front end could do is ask the users to grant them posting authority through SteemConnect for posting a placeholder comment to all posts posted using the app front end, which could be upvoted for a continuous stream of author and curator rewards. The front end would not have to even show these comments but allow each user to go press the upvote button once in a payout window forever if they like. The app could also allow for the autovoting of specific pieces of content forever.

I think creating a dependency between earnings and external traffic could potentially go a long way to increase the value of the posts and the whole platform. Apps should support those authors who create valuable content generating traffic and also give all of their authors tools and instructions as to how to optimize their traffic.

The idea of extending the payment window is interesting. I think Authors should pay to see it extended, ie, 1 Steem first week decreasing by 0.1 for a maximum of 10 weeks. Curation could be lowered at the same rate to help offset the costs. The Steem spent to extend it gets burned.
