I think general purpose hardware that can be reused for specific things is great. From my experience application specific hardware tends to wind up quickly in the junk drawer as new things are adopted. Blockchains are probably going to become more and more a dime a dozen and some will survive and prosper based on some type of monetary policy and or specific purpose. I'm not a big fan of application specific hardware because I've paid good BTC for some that I never got. (Grumpy face, lol.) :^(
