Before clicking the downvote button. What to think...

Seriously... This downvote thing is getting over the roof already.

I've talked to many steemians both online and offline. Everyone has his/her own perspective regarding it.

Some are of the opinion that the downvote button should be removed totally. But I always quickly ask 'em why? Most always point at the flag 🇨🇨 wars we see everyday on here. You have a little beef with someone, cus of your high stake, you can just go on a downvote spree on that person's account. Never caring if the content your downvoting is fantastic or not. Just downvote the asshole😝 anyway and be like "you ain't gonna get rewarded bitch😐". Yeah. A minnow who steps on the tail of a whale 🐳 is gonna get burned, that's the reality. I've seen a case where a post of $100 on a whale's blog got downvoted -$0.05 by a minnow got retaliated by -$0.5 on a $0.94 post on the minnow's blog by that same whale 🐳. To me, this isn't fair😖. But life itself is not fair. You don't wanna get "bullied" in a flag war you started? Then go get a lot of STEEM and POWER UP and let the downvote game begin. STEEM is cheap already baby😛😛.

Why I think "free downvote" is really good for steemit

Firstly. We can see less shitposts trend these days. Wonder to ask why? Many whales 🐳 🐳 have started manual curation, wherefore many eyes are on ground in search of quality contents to curate. Gone are the days when we'd see just a picture trend with $60 and above due to vote buying and bidbots. Courtesy #NewSteem😁 cheers 🥂. People are more conscious about what to post these days, and that's fun. A decentralized way to check shitposts.

Another point is... Without the downvote button... OMG!!! 😂 many will leave steemit for good cus here will look like a big joke. Have you seen what happened to whaleshare? Steemit with the absence of downvote, all what the Whales 🐳 🐳 would do is just spam, buy more votes and 100% self vote themselves to Paradise, destroying the reward pool. Therefore sending the price of STEEM to oblivion. You might want to say nay, but that's what the likes of haejin and co were doing before the HF21&22🙄 getting up to $2500 per month for posting garbage, go and argue with your keyboard 😛😝.

So what's the solution to malicious downvotes🤔?

Well, I don't know💁. But I think it would make a lotta sense if after clicking the downvote button, the system directs you to make a comment on the content you just downvoted, else the content won't get the downvote. Although you have the right to downvote anything you feel is worthless same way as upvoting what you think is fantastic. You can't question @theycallmedan or @blocktrades for giving a content 20% or 50% upvote cus they saw that content as fantastic and important for the community. Why question their downvotes? I get it😌 ... But It's f*cking annoying to have spent days on research, putting your facts together, then make a post... and one random person would just come and hit the downvote button without giving a genuine reason😐🙄. Some don't even read the content. I've seen cases where the authors have tried to reach those who downvoted their works but they won't respond no matter what😂. Do you know how frustrating and annoying that is😢😣? If you have a better solution to check unnecessary downvotes, I'd love to read 'em in the comment section.

We're still new to the free downvote thing. With time we'll get past it as steemit is wonderfully shaping out already. #Newsteem has been fantastic. Thanks to those behind the wonderful idea. Have a wonderful week ahead✌
