Homemade Orange Mocha Coffee Creamer

I love making my own coffee creamer, and I love to try new flavors whenever i can. Today, my #whatscookingchallenge entry created by @jaynie is an Orange Mocha Creamer, and completely my own creation. You can learn more about the contest here.

The ingredients for this wonderful creamer are:

**2 Cups Half & Half ( or substitute whole milk)
1 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Honey
1/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
1 Tsp. Orange Zest
Juice of one medium orange

When getting the zest off of an orange, a fancy zesting tool isn't really needed, I just use a fine serrated knife and gently scrape the peel off, leaving the bitter, white pith behind.

To make your creamer, combine water, sugar, and honey and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, then add the cocoa powder, and stir until smooth. Add the orange zest and juice, and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Slowly add the creamer, 1/4th at a time, and stirring thoroughly between batches. Allow to cool completely before storing in the fridge.

Here I am, enjoying my coffee before morning work. This creamer has to be my new favorite! Rich, sweet, chocolaty, with just the right amount of orange citrus kick. I encourage you to try your own flavors!
