NIGERIA IS 58 YEARS, IS THERE ANYTHING TO CELEBRATE?

Nigeria is one of the biggest countries in Africa, a country situated in western part of Africa with vast population that cuts across different ethnic groups.

Popularly known as the giant of Africa, it has tried to live up to that standard.

History made it known that Nigeria was in the hands of colonial masters until the very liberation of its rights and interest.

It was a hard fought battle for freedom, one that saw the merging of the Southern and Northern Protectorates, this brought the unification of various ethnic groups of different languages.

How it was pleasant that history was made.

The supposed freedom was supposed to free the citizens from every chain that held them back.

But has it really been achieved?

The coexistence of the different ethnic groups and hidden interests of her leaders brought about the deadly civil war between 1967 and 1970 that claimed several lives and property.

The unity that was meant to bind the very fabrics of our existence has been sacrificed on the altar of religion, ethnicity and unhealthy suspicion of one another.

This very reason has contributed to the instability of the country, killings and envy have been the order of the day.

In relation to the division and instability caused by ethnicity, the political schemes have been way to discouraging and one won’t be wrong to point all accusing fingers on it.

Political leaders have enslaved the citizens in what I regard as a post-colonial chain; they only are concerned about their selfish interest and that of their family.

An average Nigerian exists mainly because of the ever merciful hand of God as well as the embedded resilient attitude of them.

Amidst every pain and tear caused by the leaders, we can take so many positives from the fact that we have remained resilient, hardworking and productive.

Nigerians have excelled in many areas of line, their success cuts across every part of the world.
We never allowed our background keep our back on the ground.

True success comes from standing tall amidst the very challenges that hold you back. As a nation, we have lived above our challenges.

I am therefore not going to celebrate Nigeria as successful yet but I celebrate every single Nigerian that is trying so hard every day to survive. You guys are the real MVPs.

The Nigeria of our dreams would come true if we remain committed as ever, we should shake off every challenge and discouragements of the present, with penchant eyes on the future, let’s keep working hard to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

Nigeria will succeed
Nigeria will not fail her youth
Nigeria won’t disintegrate
I still believe in the Future of Nigeria
